At 1:07 PM today, we recorded the SECOND 45ยฐC "DANGER" level heat index in the City of Manila this year. The heat index is expected to rise even further in the coming days.
Everyone is encouraged to reduce physical activities, especially those exposed to the sun, as these conditions may lead to heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
--> Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid caffeine or alcohol, as these can dehydrate you faster.
--> Stay Indoors: Remain in the shade or cool air areas as much as possible, especially during the peak heat hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
--> Dress Light: Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing to help your body breathe and reflect sunlight.
--> Limit Exertion: Postpone heavy physical activities or outdoor exercise until the evening when temperatures are lower.
--> Monitor Vitals: Keep an eye on elderly family members and children. If someone feels dizzy or nauseous, move them to a cool area and apply cold water to their skin immediately.
