Philippine Orchid Society Annual Orchid Show Opens in Quezon City, Celebrating Beauty, Biodiversity, and Conservation
The much-anticipated POS Annual Orchid Show 2026 led by POS President Susan Lee, VP’s Dr. Ray Lo and Corazon Purificacion and Directors & Members, has officially opened, bringing together nature enthusiasts, horticulturists, and advocates of environmental conservation in a vibrant celebration of floral beauty and biodiversity. Held at the Quezon Memorial Circle, the event showcased a stunning collection of native and cultivated orchids, highlighting their ecological importance and cultural value. The lively performance of the Quezon City Band, and the Joyful and energetic Lion Dance, certainly gave the opening of the show a successful beginning and a shower of good fortune!
The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Quezon City Councilors Christopher “Tope” Liquigan and Doc Ellie Juan, who attended as esteemed guests and official representatives of Mayor Maria Josefina “Joy” Belmonte. Their presence underscored the strong support of the Quezon City government for initiatives that promote environmental awareness, urban greening, and sustainable community activities.
Joining them were key partners and stakeholders in environmental stewardship, including Chief Anson Tagtag of the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), whose work plays a vital role in the conservation and sustainable management of the country’s rich biological resources.
In their messages, speakers emphasized the importance of protecting native orchids and their natural habitats, noting that events such as the orchid show help raise public appreciation for biodiversity while encouraging conservation efforts. The show also highlighted the role of partnerships between government agencies, local officials, and horticultural groups in safeguarding the country’s natural heritage.
The Orchid Show will run from Feb 6 to 16, 2026 and features a variety of orchid displays, educational exhibits, and activities designed to inspire visitors of all ages. Through this event, organizers hope to foster a deeper connection between the community and nature, while promoting the conservation of one of the Philippines’ most treasured plant groups.
The POS invites everyone to come visit the show and enjoy the Beautiful Orchids on display and bring home a plant or two. Garden supplies and other exotic plants are also available at the show.
