Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua issued Executive Order No. 0004, series of 2026, on April 27, directing agencies to embed WPS initiatives in their Gender and Development Plans and Budgets (GPBs).

The order seeks “to institutionalize the integration of WPS Projects, Activities, and Projects in the GPBs of all MOAs within the BARMM to ensure the sustained implementation of initiatives that promote gender equality, peace, and development."

On behalf of the Miriam College – Women and Gender Institute (MC-WAGI), we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your valuable contribution to the 2nd Southeast Asian Women's Summit and 8th National Women’s Summit held on 2–3 March 2026.

SAMAHAN NIYO KAMI NGAYONG HUWEBES PARA PAG-USAPAN ANG ROLE NG MGA KABABAIHAN PARA SA KAPAYAPAAN!

Dito lang ‘yan sa 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙖 𝙉𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙚?, ngayong Huwebes, 2:00 n.h.

Sa pagdiriwang natin ng National Women’s Month ngayong taon, binibigyang-pugay natin ang mga Filipina bilang mga mahalagang "agents of peaceful and just futures (Tañada et al., 2025)". Tatlong dekada matapos ang historic na Fourth World Conference on Women sa Beijing, nananatiling isang malaking isyu ang epekto ng armed conflict sa buhay ng mga Pilipina. Kaya naman, layunin ng episode na ito na suriin kung paano nag-translate ang landmark vision ng Beijing Conference regarding women in armed conflict sa kasalukuyang realidad ng mga Filipina. By exploring these multifaceted experiences across different local and international conflict settings, gusto nating intindihin kung ano ba gampanin ng mga Pilipina sa gitna ng armed conflict ngayon, at maghanap ng concrete ways para isulong ang role niya bilang isang active architect ng mas inclusive, makatarungan, at mapayapang lipunan.

Makakasama natin sa episode na ito si Bb. Karen N. Tañada (Executive Director, Gaston Z. Ortigas Peace Institute). Makakapanayam naman siya ni Jesse Claudio (Associate Director for Research, IPC).

Hatid namin ang episode na ito sa pakikipagtulungan ng Ateneo de Manila University Gender and Development Office.

Ang programang 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙖 𝙉𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙚? ay isang knowledge dissemination initiative ng Institute of Philippine Culture na nagbibigay ng culturally sensitive, kritikal, evidence-based, at down-to-earth na pagsusuri ng mga napapanahong social issues gamit ang iba’t ibang kalinangan sa agham panlipunan. Nakabatay ang inisyatibong ito sa prinsipyo na ang pagbubuo at pagbabahagi ng kaalaman ay dapat maging isang genuine na collaborative process kung saan ang iba't ibang karanasan, pananaw, at problem-solving approaches ay binibigyan ng espasyo upang makilala, maipaliwanag, at magamit.

Call for Application: Technical Consultant

In line with the project, “Supporting Women’s Political leadership for Peace – Women in Politics for Peace,” through the support of UN Women – Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund, the Gaston Z. Ortigas Peace Institute (GZOPI) and Women Engaged in Action on UNSCR 1325 (WEAct 1325) are calling for applications for immediate hiring of a Technical Consultant for the formulation and advocacy of local agenda on NAPWPS 2023 – 2033 and Bangsamoro RAPWPS 2023-2028 in the following areas and sectors:

- Marawi City and Municipality of Masiu in the Province of Lanao del Sur;
- Non- Moro Indigenous Peoples (NMIP) in South Upi, North Upi and Special Geographic Areas (SGAs);
- Indigenous Women in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur
- Bongao. Tawi-Tawi Province
- Municipalities of Lantawan, Haji Ajul Mohamad and Al Barka in Basilan Province.

Specific functions:

1. Provide technical support in the finalization of the local CSO Agenda on women, peace and security (WPS) to be presented to the different local government units (LGUs) in the aforementioned project areas;
2. Assist in the facilitation of the process of the finalization and refinement of the CSO Agenda on WPS;
3. Provide technical support in the packaging and publication of the finalized local CSO Agenda on WPS;
4. Coordinate with Project Team members towards the achievement of project activities.

Qualifications:

1. At least two (2) years of work experience with civil society organizations (CSOs) and women’s rights organizations (WROs);
2. Track record in the implementation and advocacy of gender equality and women’s human rights (GEWHR), including women, peace and security issues;
3. Able to accomplish deliverables in three (3) months

WEAct 1325 and Project WELD partners observed the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW by participating in the kick-off event led by the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), highlighted by the 7th State of the Bangsamoro Women Address (SOBWA) rendered by Chair Bainon G. Karon.

During the event, WELD Community Partner, Sigay nu mga Babay Association, who represented the province of Maguindanao del Sur, won the first prize of Best Booth showcasing local products of the province.

On the second day of the Campaign, WELD Project Partners took time out from their meeting to take a group photo with members holding posters of different calls to end VAW, as an expression of their commitment to amplify women's voices in ending VAW.
