When floods hit, the rich rebuild. The poor relocate—again. While some mourn damaged beachfront properties, others are left with homes swallowed by water, roads that never dry, and schools that stay closed for weeks. Children lose not just classrooms, but the rhythm of learning itself.

The climate crisis isn’t the great equalizer it was once imagined to be, it’s a magnifier of inequality.

Those with means fortify their walls and move uphill. Those without, watch opportunity slip away with every storm.

As a girl who grew up in the confines of my home in urban Philippines, I looked to Dr. Jane Goodall and saw what was possible when words were used with care and courage. She showed me that storytelling can move people to protect the voiceless, and that sometimes the greatest act of advocacy is not speaking for others but listening closely, then carrying their truth into the world.

Through her work, she reminded us that conservation is not just science—it is empathy, patience, and the belief that change begins with one person willing to care deeply. We can only hope that more children might grow up with the same courage and curiosity as Dr. Jane Goodall—if only our forests were safe enough for those who long to learn from them, and to one day stand up in their defense.

She will be deeply missed by many, but by us especially.

Happy International Whale Shark Day! 🌊
From Donsol to Tubbataha, the butanding (or tikitiki, as it’s known in other regions) is more than a marine icon. It’s a living link to our ancestral relationship with nature. 🇵🇭

As their habitats disappear due to climate change, protecting them isn’t just conservation—it’s cultural preservation. Let’s live like our ancestors did: in harmony with the sea. 💙🩵

School calendars weren’t built for 40°C heatwaves and waist-deep floods. The academic calendar was designed in a pre-climate crisis era. It’s time to rethink it.

Filipino students now face impossible choices: swelter through dry-season heatwaves in April or wade home through monsoon floods in July. These aren’t isolated events, they’re the new normal under a changing climate.

Education should be accessible and safe. It’s time we ask: who is the current calendar really serving, and what would a climate-adaptive academic year look like?
