𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹.

Ang trahedya sa Tacloban ay isang patunay na may malaking krisis sa ating lipunan, ngunit hindi ang Juvenile Justice Law ang dapat sisihin. Ang batas ay ginawa para sa rehabilitasyon at pag-ako ng pananagutan, hindi para bigyan ng laya ang karahasan.

Kung tatanungin natin kung bakit dumarami ang ganitong insidente, ang sagot ay wala sa batas kundi nasa paligid natin: lumalalang mental health crisis, kakulangan ng guidance counselors sa mga paaralan, hindi nasosolusyunan na bullying, at matinding kahirapan.

Mariing kinukundena ng Kilos Ko Youth ang mga hakbang na ibaba ang minimum age of criminal liability. Sa halip na parusahan at ituring na kriminal ang mga kabataan, dapat tanungin ng estado: anong suporta, gabay, at serbisyo ang ipinagkait natin sa kanila bago pa umabot sa ganito?

𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗦 𝗞𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗗𝗬

We strongly condemn the recent shooting incident in Tacloban and extend our solidarity to the victims, their families, and the affected community. We call for a swift, impartial, and thorough investigation to ensure that all those responsible are held accountable.

At this time, we also urge the public to reject misinformation and the politicization of this tragedy. Attempts to blame the incident on the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act or on its advocates without evidence do nothing to serve the cause of justice. Accountability under the law remains in place, and any discussion of policy must be grounded in facts rather than fear or disinformation.

As a youth organization, we maintain that genuine public safety requires both accountability and a commitment to addressing the deeper social conditions that breed violence. Poverty, inequality, lack of access to quality education, inadequate social services, the normalization of violence, and the continued marginalization of vulnerable communities create environments where harm persists and cycles of violence are reproduced.

Reducing complex social problems to punitive solutions alone neither prevents future tragedies nor addresses their root causes.

We therefore call on all sectors to uphold truth, justice, and human dignity in responding to this tragedy. Tugunan ang ugat ng karahasan. Itaguyod ang katotohanan at katarungan.
