Good Governance is not just a framework and handbook of regulations. It is an expression and demonstration of leadership and management of people’s interests and a country’s national interests in the international community. The modalities enshrined in the government system are not for personal gains but for the greater welfare of its people. The landscape of good governance is challenged by the core foundation of public trust, transparency, accountability, sustainability, and morally. Political parties should not control the state of good governance, it is not a fountain of personal gains, it is for people’s shelter and comfort.

As a response, the Good Governance Dialogue is an initiative of the International Peace Diplomacy Corps, Inc. (IPDCI) to raise the torch of public discourse and generate interests at a critical juncture of our history.

SPEAKER’S BACKGROUND
“Good Governance Impact To Business Investments”
Mr. Wilson Lee Flores (Business)
Honorary Chairman
Anvil Business Club

Wilson Lee Flores is a multi-awarded writer, real estate and bakery entrepreneur, educator, and poet who combines business experience with journalism, literature, and community-building. He is a columnist for the Philippine Star and an opinion columnist for Abante and Abante Tonite.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Flores started his career in real estate sales and eventually built his own real estate business. He also owns Kamuning Bakery Cafe, the historic Quezon City bakery founded in 1939. Through the bakery, he has turned an ordinary business establishment into an unusual platform for entrepreneurship, literature, culture, and community engagement. Among its initiatives are the annual World Pandesal Day and World Poetry Day celebrations, and the monthly Pan de Panitikan, featuring poetry, music, and cultural performances.

Flores has won three Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature and 15 Catholic Mass Media Awards, including three CMMA Hall of Fame Awards for Best Opinion Column and Best Business Column. He is the author of five books featuring and profiling Philippine business leaders.

One of his most valuable learning experiences has come not only from running businesses but also from his decades as a journalist. Through his newspaper columns, he has interviewed, met, and interacted with numerous prominent Philippine and international entrepreneurs, business leaders, and other fascinating personalities. These encounters have given him a unique collection of real-world stories, entrepreneurial lessons, business strategies, successes, failures, and insights that rarely appear in textbooks, and which he is willing to share.

Interestingly, Flores did not grow up with the usual advantages of a business family. His businessman father passed away when he was only seven years old, so he had to develop his entrepreneurial instincts largely through experience, observation, reading, journalism, and learning from other entrepreneurs. Yet entrepreneurship was part of his family heritage: his late father and various paternal ancestors were themselves enterprising and resourceful businessmen.

Today, Flores enjoys sharing not only his own experiences in real estate, entrepreneurship, journalism, and business management, but also the lessons he has gathered from generations of entrepreneurs and from his conversations with some of the country's most successful business leaders.

His message to young entrepreneurs is simple: business ideas can be learned from books, but some of the most valuable lessons come from people, experience, mistakes, persistence, and the courage to keep trying.

(IPDCI) initiated a dialogue forum focused on the theme “Active Citizenship For A Better Democracy.” IPDCI has successfully hosted on the 23rd of September 2026 its Democracy Dialogue, bringing together peace builders and advocates to reinforce public participation and protect fundamental democratic principles. The forum serves as a vital platform designed to empower citizens by safeguarding the values and obligations that anchor a free society. According to organizers, true democracy must allow all individuals to speak openly, engage productively, and discover shared values that protect the collective welfare rather than dividing communities. "Democracy is a common responsibility, accountability, and obligation for everyone," IPDCI noted during the said event. The democracy dialogue highlighted how active civil engagement directly fuels sustainable peace and development.
