Nuclear power is the best, especially for climate change.
‎
‎Of all the sources of energy, even renewables, nuclear is the best solution for climate change.
‎
‎How can that be? Well, it produces absolutely no greenhouse gases during electricity production, while also producing more electricity than other energy sources.
‎
‎Another way nuclear helps the environment is space. A nuclear power plant takes up a lot less area than other energy sources. With less area being taken up, more land can be used for trees, forests, and even whole ecosystems that produce more oxygen for our planet.
‎
‎That is why if you care for your planet, then support nuclear power in the Philippines.

Alpas Pinas welcomes this landmark development on Meralco's quest to explore and include nuclear in the company's energy generation mix.

Together, we will all work towards our common goal of clean, cheap nd reliable electricity for the Philippines.

Meralco, MGEN tap Sargent & Lundy for Comprehensive SMR Feasibility Study

Meralco and MGEN have selected U.S.-based engineering firm Sargent & Lundy, in partnership with local engineering firm AMH Philippines, Inc. (AMH), to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study for the potential deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the Philippines.

The study marks the next step in the $2.8 million technical assistance program funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), which was formally announced in February 2026. It is intended to provide One Meralco with a rigorous, data-driven basis for determining whether, when, and how SMRs could form part of the country’s future energy mix. A dedicated SMR Working Group has been established within the One Meralco group to lead the study and coordinate closely with S&L and AMH. The comprehensive study is targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2027.

🇵🇭⚛️ Advancing the Philippines’ Nuclear Energy Future

Alpas Pinas is proud to stand alongside the team from the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), led by Dr. Vallerie Samson, during the multi-sectoral hearing organized by the Special Committee on Nuclear Energy in Congress.

The discussion focused on the proposed Nuclear Energy Sector Integration Act, a key step toward establishing a comprehensive policy framework that can accelerate the responsible adoption and integration of nuclear energy into the Philippines’ power mix.

As the country works toward a more secure, reliable, and sustainable energy future, Alpas Pinas remains committed to supporting meaningful conversations and policies that recognize the potential of nuclear energy to help power national development. 🇵🇭⚡

The future of Philippine energy is being shaped today. Let’s keep the conversation moving forward.

Parehong teknolohiya, magkaibang kapalaran 🤯

‎Its time to catch up, we can't be left behind.
‎
‎The same nuclear power plants constructed in the same decade as our Philippine Nuclear Power Plant in Bataan are still operational and are providing clean, cheap, and reliable energy to their countries.
‎
‎That is four decades of clean, cheap, and reliable energy that we could have had. It is unfortunate, but that doesn't mean we can't change. The best time would have been 40 years ago, but the second best time is now.
‎
‎That is why we need to go nuclear now. For the benefit of our near and far future.
