Last September 27, the Scouts of Makati City Council continued their unfinished session the previous day. They kicked off with an exercise that keep them ready, strong, and physically fit as the training days go by.

The third day gave the scouts the perfect chance to apply, hands-on, everything they had learned the previous graining day. Each participant actively practiced essential Basic Life Support skills—executing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and confidently operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Scout leaders also took part in the simulation, reinforcing shared commitment and learning.

Even amid the exhaustion brought by the simulation, the training continued with a comprehensive discussion on responding to and managing various types of emergencies.

The awarding of recognitions marked the conclusion of Day 3, allowing participants to finally let out a collective sigh of relief after the two consecutive days of intensive training. This included those scouts who reached highest score on the Post-Test Assessment of the Basic Life Support Discussion.

Another day of learning and skill-building as our scouts explored the fundamentals of Basic Life Support (BLS).

Scouts were introduced to essential life-saving techniques and procedures that can be used during emergency situations.

Through engaging discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, our scouts gained valuable knowledge that will help them become more capable and responsible responders in their communities.

[REPOSTED CAPTION FROM: St. John Bosco Parish, Makati City, Philippines]

𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐓. 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐎 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐇
With grateful hearts and joyful thanksgiving, we celebrate the elevation of St. John Bosco Parish Church, Makati City, as an 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐃𝐈𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐓. 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐎.

The petition was approved by His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, D.D., after consulting the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council during their September 24 meeting.

What began as a parish community entrusted to the Salesians has grown through decades of prayer, service, formation, and mission. This new chapter calls us to become even more deeply a place of pilgrimage, prayer, reconciliation, and encounter with God, under the patronage of St. John Bosco, Father and Teacher of the Young.

May this shrine be a home for the young, a refuge for families, a school of faith, and a wellspring of hope for the Church in the Archdiocese of Manila and beyond.

The schedule for the solemn declaration of St. John Bosco Parish as an Archdiocesan Shrine will be announced in due time.

Yesterday marked a historic milestone as BSP Makati City Council officially launched its first-ever Emergency Service Training Course with the Course Number 𝐍𝐂𝐑-𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐂 𝟐𝟔-𝟎𝟏𝟒. A landmark initiative dedicated to building capable, ready, and resilient youth responders across the scouting movement of Makati.

The momentous opening ceremony was led by our Masters of Ceremonies, SL Norgie Rapalya and SL Rod Mantua Jr., whose poised leadership set a tone of purpose and service from the very start.

Following the opening, SL Pricila Agmata, Acting Council Scout Executive, formally introduced and welcomed the official participants — the dedicated individuals who will undergo this specialized training to serve their communities. She also presented the trainers from BSP and the agencies of the subject matter experts.

The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Council Chairman Hon. Jejomar Erwin S. Binay Jr, who shared heartfelt words of encouragement. He shared that this training of the young scouts of Makati is meaningful to him given his strong background in emergency preparedness and response.

To formally recognize this milestone, the Course Recognition was presented by Regional Program Commissioner SL Wilfredo Pabuaya, LT. This was received by the ESTC Project Officer and Course Leader, SL Aquilino L. Solis, Jr., RN, ALT W/ CMT. The members course staff were also introduced after the presentation of the Course Recognition.

Yesterday, the Makati Community Rover Scouts joined the 41st International Coastal Cleanup Day at SM by the Bay, Mall of Asia Seaside, carrying this year’s theme: “Clean Seas for Resilient Communities.”

More than picking up trash, coastal cleanup is a reminder that every small action can make a difference. As Scouts and young people, we have a responsibility to protect our seas, care for our environment, and inspire others to take part in building cleaner and more resilient communities.

From every piece of waste collected to every hand that helped, we proved that when communities come together, service creates an impact.
