𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗥𝗢 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀

Bantayog, in partnership with MENRO and the barangay officials of Pangi, Wali, and New La Union, recently led an environmental planning meeting to discuss strategies for better protecting and caring for the environment across the three barangays. This initiative marks the beginning of a series of collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and sustainable practices in the community.

During the meeting, it was agreed that Bantayog, together with MENRO and the barangay officials, will conduct a Zero Waste Campaign, which will include household visits to raise awareness and promote proper waste management practices. While the exact date of the campaign has yet to be finalized, the discussions laid the groundwork for active community participation and continuous environmental care.

This planning session highlights the commitment of Bantayog, local government units, and barangay leaders to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. The project and meeting were supported by the Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace, who will assist in the campaign’s implementation. This collaboration represents a clear step forward in promoting sustainability and unity among the communities of Pangi, Wali, and New La Union.

𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗴 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻

Bantayog has taken the initiative to launch the Zero Waste Campaign, a long-term commitment to promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability within the community. This campaign was formally begun through the Legacy Tree Growing Activity in Barangay Wali, where bamboo seedlings were planted as a symbol of Bantayog’s dedication to environmental protection and long-lasting ecological impact.

These bamboo plantings serve as Legacy Trees—a living reminder that this initiative marks only the beginning of a broader environmental movement. This effort will continue to expand to other barangays, encouraging more communities to participate in environmental stewardship and responsible ecological practices. Through unity and shared purpose, the initiative aims to strengthen a culture of environmental care across the municipality.

This activity, led by Bantayog in partnership with MENRO, the Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace, and the barangay officials of Pangi, Wali, and New La Union, represents a meaningful step toward building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future. By planting these legacy bamboo trees, we establish a foundation of collective action and environmental responsibility for both present and future generations.

BANTAYOG President Franz Jay Villanueva represented the organization at the Regional Climate Change Caravan 2025 held at Paraiso Verde Hotel, City of Koronadal. The two-day program provided a platform for participants to engage in discussions on climate action, environmental sustainability, and initiatives to address the impacts of climate change.

His participation underscores BANTAYOG’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and proactive action among the youth. Through programs like this, the organization continues to contribute to building a sustainable and resilient future for communities in Maitum, Sarangani Province.
