Empowering out-of-school youth through knowledge and awareness. An Empowerment Seminar was conducted for the Out-of-School Youth (OSY) of Maasin City under the Youth Program of the City Social Welfare and Development in partnership with the Adolescent Health and Development Program, focusing on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and HIV/AIDS awareness—equipping young people with the information and life skills needed to make healthy and responsible choices. 💙

Harmful gender norms, including objectifying and sexualizing remarks, undermine the dignity and equal participation of women and girls, and send damaging signals to young people about what is acceptable.

When such remarks are normalized, they:
⚠️ Reinforce attitudes that treat women and girls as objects rather than rights-holders.
⚠️Contribute to environments where harassment and discrimination—online and offline—are tolerated or dismissed.
⚠️Discourage girls and young women from speaking up and participating safely in public life.

This , we reaffirm a simple standard: every woman and every girl deserve dignity, respect, and safety in every space—homes, schools, workplaces, digital platforms, and public institutions.

Everyone, including leaders, must promote respect, ensure accountability, and protect women and girls from gender‑based violence.
