Been three months since my last update here.

Last December, our mini dog sanctuary experienced a nightmare that no furparent would ever want to go through. Many of our dogs were infected with distemper and pneumonia. We still have no idea where the virus came from or which one of them it started with. Everything just happened so fast. Once the symptoms started to show, within just a few hours, a life would be gone.

Each day felt like a nightmare. Almost every other day, for nearly two weeks, we lost one dog after another.

It became exhausting to cry. It was draining to go to the cemetery every day to bury the remains of our beloved dogs.

When 2026 began, we thought the nightmare was finally over. But then we lost another dog… and then another.

There was a brief pause. In February, no dog died, and I truly thought the nightmare had finally come to an end. But just this week—on Wednesday, and again today—we lost two more dogs.

I can no longer count the exact number of dogs we have lost in just four months. It is truly heartbreaking. It is exhausting.

To everyone who noticed our hiatus, please bear with us. We are unable to accommodate any requests right now because we are facing our own crisis—our own nightmare.

Please keep our remaining dogs in your prayers.

They had no training, no collars, not even names. Just a group of stray dogs, ribs showing, paws worn from the streets. Yet that afternoon, they did something that left everyone watching in silence: they formed a line.

Hungry, yes. Desperate, certainly. But not chaotic.

Each dog waited its turn for food—no pushing, no fighting, no snarls.

Just patience. One by one, they stepped forward, accepted their share, and moved aside, as if guided by an unspoken code of respect.

For animals who had been given so little in life—no homes, no certainty, no promise of kindness—it was an act that spoke volumes. Dignity in the face of hunger. Order in the face of desperation.

Perhaps that’s why it struck so deeply. If stray dogs, forgotten and overlooked, can wait their turn with patience and grace, what excuse do we have when we lose ours?

Sometimes the greatest lessons come from the most unexpected teachers.
