The UPLB BARKada at CATropa is an animal-assisted intervention (AAI) program of the University of the Philippines Los Baños that seeks to promote human-animal bonds as a valuable means of reducing depression, anxiety, and stress. Managed by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVSCA), particularly the Office of Counseling and Guidance (OCG), and the Learning Resource Center (LRC)

, the program advances activities aimed at addressing students’ need for psychosocial support while also championing animal care and welfare. The general objective of the program is to provide a social support intervention to students and other UPLB constituents. to improve the physical, social, emotional, or cognitive function of the participants;
2. to help strengthen the mental health referral program of the University.
