On August 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM, the Burauen Comprehensive National High School (BCNHS) Social Hall became a venue for meaningful learning, collaboration, and environmental action as the Local Government Unit of BurauenโMunicipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (LGUโMENRO) conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign on Waste Management and Coordination Meeting.
The activity brought together the officers and club advisers of various school organizations such as Eco-Friendly Club, YES-O, SSLG, and among others, creating an important platform for strengthening partnerships between the school community and the local government in addressing one of the most pressing concerns in every communityโthe proper management of solid waste.
Throughout the IEC campaign, LGUโMENRO provided participants with a deeper understanding of solid waste management, discussing the different types and effects of solid waste, proper waste management concepts, and the importance of collective responsibility in keeping the community clean and environmentally sustainable. More importantly, the participants were introduced to existing solid waste management ordinances, facilities, programs, and proposed activities for schools and other stakeholders.
Among the important ordinances highlighted was ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐, emphasizing that proper waste management begins at the point where waste is generated. The campaign also reinforced the ๐ต๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐
๐พ๐๐๐๐ policy, reminding everyone of the environmental and health consequences of burning garbage. The ๐ต๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐ordinance was likewise emphasized to promote cleanliness and responsible disposal. The regulation concerning plastic and polystyrene use was also presented as part of the municipalityโs efforts to minimize waste and encourage more sustainable practices.
Adding an inspiring dimension to the campaign, LGUโMENRO also introduced its innovative waste recovery initiatives, including the โ๐ด๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐โ Program, which encourages the collection and exchange of plastic waste for rice. Another notable initiative is the

The coordination meeting further opened opportunities for the school organizations and LGUโMENRO to work together in implementing environmental programs and proposed activities for schools and other stakeholders. Through the active involvement of student leaders and club advisers, the school community can become an important partner in bringing waste management practices beyond the classroom and into homes, communities, and everyday life.
The activity served as a powerful reminder that environmental responsibility is a shared responsibility. Government programs can provide direction and opportunities, but their success ultimately depends on the willingness of individuals and communities to participate and take action.
