On this International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, we remember the lives lost and honor the survivors whose lives have been forever changed by acts of terrorism.

Terrorism does not only take lives in an instant. Its effects can continue long after the headlines fade— survivors and families to face physical, psychological, social, and financial challenges. Their voices must not be forgotten, and their experiences must not be reduced to statistics.

Today, we stand in solidarity with victims and survivors. We recognize their courage, uphold their rights, and reaffirm the importance of long-term support that allows them to heal, recover, and rebuild their lives.

🌍 WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY | August 19

In a world where crises may divide us, humanity reminds us that we are never truly separate.

Today, we honor the courageous people who choose to serve, to care, and to stand beside those who need help the most. They remind us that compassion is not a weakness, but a responsibility—and that even in the darkest moments, there are hands willing to reach out and hearts willing to stay.

But remembering is not enough. Humanity calls us to act. To protect those who help. To uphold dignity. To speak when others are silenced. To extend solidarity beyond borders, communities, and differences.

May we never become indifferent to another’s suffering. May we continue to build a world where no one is forgotten, and where every act of kindness becomes a quiet declaration that humanity still matters.

At this time of remembrance and reconciliation, we pay tribute to the millions of people who lost their lives in the Second World War, and remember their sacrifices.

We must never forget the Holocaust and the other grave and horrendous crimes committed by the N***s.

The victory over fascism and tyranny in May 1945 marked the beginning of a new era.

An appreciation for international solidarity and our shared humanity led to the birth of the United Nations, with the overriding mission of saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war.

Our world is still suffering the impact of conflict. Even during the current COVID-19 crisis, we see new efforts to divide people and spread hatred.

As we mark this 75th anniversary, let’s remember the lessons of 1945 and work together to end the pandemic and build a future of peace, safety and dignity for all.

By fostering access to reliable information, accountability, dialogue, and trust, press freedom and independent journalism are key to peace, economic recovery, sustainable development, and human rights.

According to UNESCO’s World Trends Report 2022–2025, press freedom has experienced its steepest decline since 2012—comparable to the most unstable periods of the 20th century, including the two World Wars and the Cold War.

Now, more than ever, the call for freedom must be heard. Let us stand together to protect truth, amplify voices, and defend the right to know.
