On October 20, 2024, the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter continued its RCY Month 2024 celebration with a coastal cleanup in Bangbang, Cordova. Red Cross Youth volunteers came together to protect the environment by removing waste from the shoreline, promoting the importance of preserving our oceans and marine life. 🌿🌍

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Red Cross Youth to environmental sustainability and community service. 💪❤️

On October 19, 2024, the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter celebrated RCY Month with an exciting day of ball games and a Mobile Legends tournament at the Lapu-Lapu City Auditorium.

Red Cross Youth members showcased their athleticism in basketball, volleyball, and badminton, while some competed in the Mobile Legends e-games competition.🏆⚽🎮

This event was supported by the Lapu-Lapu City Mayor, Hon. Junard "Ahong" Chan and one of our Board of Directors, Doc. Emilio Galaroza Jr. by allowing us to use the LLC Auditorium.

In celebration of Red Cross Youth (RCY) Month 2024, the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter conducted a Global Handwashing Day and Feeding Program to promote proper hygiene and address malnutrition on October 12, 2024, at Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Philippines, Inc.(ASFFPI).

The event was organized by the PRC Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter Staff led by the focal person for RCY/VS with the support of the officer-in-charge, Atty. Maria Vera G. De Jesus.

The Global Handwashing Day activity highlighted handwashing as a simple, effective way to prevent disease. Red Cross Youth volunteers led hands-on demonstrations, teaching children proper hygiene practices. Following this, a Feeding Program provided nutritious meals, reinforcing the Red Cross’s commitment to combating malnutrition and supporting the health of children, especially in vulnerable communities.

The event reflects the Philippine Red Cross's continued dedication to promoting health, safety, and humanitarian values through its RCY Month 2024 activities. By engaging youth in meaningful community service, the organization is empowering the next generation to become advocates for better health and well-being.

As part of Red Cross Youth (RCY) Month 2024, the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter hosted an Emergency First Aid Training to equip young volunteers with life-saving skills. The event, held on October 6, 2024, at PRC Office - Ground Hoops Dome, brought together dozens of enthusiastic youth participants eager to learn how to respond effectively in emergencies.

One of the highlights of the event was a live demonstration of CPR, where participants practiced chest compressions and rescue breathing on mannequins. This critical life-saving skill was particularly emphasized, as timely CPR can significantly increase the survival rate of victims in cardiac arrest situations.

The activity is part of RCY Month 2024, a nationwide celebration promoting youth volunteerism, service, and disaster preparedness to serve in emergencies.

With the theme "ACT RCY: Adapt, Contribute, and Thrive – RED CROSS YOUTH in Humanitarian Action," the PRC Lapu-Lapu Cordova Chapter officially started the Red Cross Youth (RCY) Month 2024 on October 5, 2024. Youth volunteers and advisers from various school councils gathered to celebrate a month dedicated to youth empowerment, community service, and leadership.

Atty. Vera warmly welcomed the youth volunteers, recognizing the Red Cross Youth Councils in attendance. She highlighted the significance of the theme, emphasizing the unwavering commitment of the volunteers to the cause of humanitarian action. The program also featured performances from youth members, showcasing their creativity and dedication to the Red Cross mission.

This year’s theme honors the dedication and impact of the youth volunteers, who are vital to driving humanitarian initiatives. The logo symbolizes the Red Cross Youth's commitment to supporting and uplifting each other in their noble pursuit of humanitarian service.

The PRC Lapu-Lapu Cordova Chapter looks forward to a successful month of activities and continued collaboration with its youth volunteers in promoting the humanitarian values of the Red Cross.

The Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter participated the Dinagat Festival 2024 at Cordova Centennial Avenue (Roro Port Area) on August 11, 2024.

The festival started with street dancing from Ibabao Road to Cordova Centennial Avenue (Roro Port Area).

It was joined by the 13 contingents from different barangays of Cordova followed by the on-foot volunteers along with the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM).

Through the unwavering support of the Chapter Officer-In-Charge, Maria Vera G. De Jesus, and the chapter staff who guided our volunteers to do their roles and responsibilities to ensure the safety of the people in the event.

Our dedicated volunteers who were on duty during the Dinagat Festival 2024 in Cordova kept everyone safe and cared for during the event. We are truly committed to the service!

Together, we make our community stronger!🙏❤️
