The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 703rd Squadron, under the leadership of AUX CPT Marjorie P. Rasay, together with its officers—AUX LT Allan Godfrey Pagdilao, AUX LT Lordley Pagdilao, AUX CDR Lady Angeli Pagdilao, AUX LT Lemuel Tabutol, AUX LT Gally Domingo, AUX LT Joy C. Layus, and AUX LT Imelin Cruz Cristobal—in partnership with the dedicated men and women of Coast Guard Station Ilocos Norte, headed by Coast Guard Station Commander Ilocos Norte CDR Ryan Jay C. Ganaden, PCG, successfully conducted a half day Orientation and Seminar on Composting of Organic Waste on August 1, 2026.

The seminar was facilitated by AUX LT Allan Godfrey Pagdilao, PCGA, who provided participants with practical knowledge on the fundamentals of composting. The session focused on understanding the composting process, identifying compostable materials, applying proper composting techniques, appreciating its role in environmental protection, and encouraging the adoption of composting practices within local communities.

The activity also highlighted the importance of proper organic waste management in protecting coastal communities by reducing environmental pollution, improving soil health, and promoting sustainable waste management practices.

Residents of Barangay Victoria, Currimao, Ilocos Norte actively participated, showing support for environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The initiative reflects PCGA’s continued commitment to environmental awareness and community empowerment through education and collaboration.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has been placed on heightened alert as it intensifies preparations for the possible impact of Super Typhoon , particularly in the National Capital Region, Northeastern Luzon, Northwestern Luzon, and the Bicol Region.

PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, has directed all concerned Coast Guard Districts, Stations, and Sub-Stations to implement preparedness measures and maintain close coordination with local disaster risk reduction and management councils and local government units to safeguard coastal communities and maritime stakeholders.

PCG Acting Spokesperson, Commander Michael John Encina PCG, said the Coast Guard has activated its preparedness and response measures under the Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) campaign.

Preparations include facilitating the early evacuation of residents in high-risk coastal areas, issuing sea travel advisories, securing ports and other Coast Guard facilities, and prepositioning deployable response groups for immediate dispatch. The PCG Auxiliary has also been mobilized to augment preparedness and response operations.

"The PCG is also intensifying engagements with fisherfolk and coastal community residents to encourage compliance with evacuation directives," Commander Encina said.

The public is advised to monitor official weather bulletins and immediately report maritime emergencies through the nearest Coast Guard unit for appropriate action.
