โI was terrified because I thought the concrete walls of our house would collapse on us. We suffered cuts and bruises as we crawled our way out while the ground was shaking violently. My 10-month-old grandchild was tightly held by his father as we tried to get everyone to safety.
By the grace of God, we made it out alive. But when we looked back, we saw that our home had been severely damaged and was no longer safe to return to. It is heartbreaking because it was not only our shelter but also our source of livelihood, as we run our small store from our home. We are hoping that help will come so we can rebuild our lives and start over after this tragedy,โ shared Juvy Lumiboc, 53, a resident of Brgy. Baliton, Glan, Sarangani Province.
The MARADECA team continues to coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to assess urgent needs and support response and recovery initiatives in the affected communities.
