🩻🌍 Active Case Finding (ACF) | Bringing TB Screening Closer to Communities

From September 4–11, 2026, MARADECA Inc. continued its Active Case Finding (ACF) activities across selected communities in Cebu and Zamboanga del Sur, providing accessible chest X-ray screening and TB profiling for community members. The team reached a total of 1,391 clients across Badian, Dalaguete, Tambulig, Midsalip, Sominot, Ramon Magsaysay, Tabina, and V-Sagun.

As part of the follow-up process, the team also conducted on-site monitoring with the RHU Badian, Cebu to check the status of patients with PTB and other findings identified during the previous ACF activity. A total of 26 sputum samples were collected. CXR results were also endorsed to the respective Rural Health Units of Badian, Midsalip, Molave, Tambulig, and Sominot to support proper referral, diagnosis, and follow-up care.

Through continuous community screening, monitoring, and coordination with local health facilities, we help ensure that individuals at risk of TB are identified early and connected to the appropriate care. 🫁💙

☕🌱 Coffee Production Training | Strengthening Local Coffee Leaders in Sulu

From September 2–4, 2026, MARADECA Inc., together with People in Need (PIN) and United Youth of the Philippines–Women (UNYPhil-Women), supported the conduct of a three-day Coffee Production Training at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Patikul, Sulu (OPAg-Sulu), under the BAEP-LEAP Project. 🇪🇺🤝

The training brought together 33 Focal Leaders from the new project barangays, equipping them with practical knowledge and technical skills in coffee production, nursery management, farm establishment, and sustainable farm management. 🌱👨‍🌾

Facilitated by Sir Eli Natividad and Sir B-Jay Fabros of Farm To Cup, the sessions covered essential practices including coffee species identification, selection of quality mother plants, seedling preparation, nursery operations, site assessment and preparation, field planting, fertilizer application, mulching, shade management, integrated nutrient management, pest and disease management, and overall coffee farm maintenance. 📚☕🌿

By strengthening the capacity of local Focal Leaders, the training helps ensure that farmers receive continued technical guidance and support within their communities—contributing to healthier, more productive, and sustainable coffee farms across Sulu. 💚🌱

📢 COMMUNITY HEALTH UPDATE: Active Case Finding & CXR Endorsement Rollout 🩺✨

From August 24 to September 3, 2026, our dedicated health teams conducted extensive Active Case Finding (ACF) operations across various barangays and municipalities in Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Sur, Bohol, and Cebu. Through this initiative, we successfully profiled over 2,400 clients, providing vital health screening and chest X-ray services to local communities.

To ensure continuous care, the team coordinated courtesy visits with local chief executives—including Hon. Ruel Molina of Kumalarang—and officially endorsed CXR results to regional health offices, municipal health officers (such as Dr. Yanmer Alrad M. Atong in Rizal), NTP coordinators, and local RHUs. In addition, routine Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) monitoring was conducted in Sibutad and La Libertad.

Strengthening Organizations Through Better Management and Financial Practices

MARADECA, Inc. successfully conducted the 2-Day Training on Organizational Development and Financial Management on August 28–29, 2026 at the Ragayan Training Center (RTC), with the participation of the Peace Builder Youth Organization (PBYO) and Women Marketing Cooperative (WMC).

The training covered Organizational Development Management and Financial Management, providing participants with practical knowledge and skills to strengthen their organizational systems and practices. It emphasized good governance, effective leadership, strategic planning, clear roles and responsibilities, responsible resource management, proper financial recording, and accountability in organizational operations.

Through interactive discussions, workshops, and group activities, the training provided Peace Builder Youth Organization (PBYO) and WMC participants with an opportunity to strengthen their organizational capacities, clarify their roles, and identify practical actions for improving their organizations.

🌱 Savings Group Leaders Training 103 – Batch 2 | Days 1 & 2

On August 22–23, 2026, People in Need Philippines (PIN) facilitated the Savings Group Leaders Training 103 – Batch 2 at LM Metro Hotel, Zamboanga City, bringing together Savings Group Leaders from Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. 🤝✨

During Day 1, participants explored the dimensions of a transforming community and the principles of transformational leadership. Through interactive activities such as the Survival Game and Gauntlet Run, they strengthened their critical thinking, decision-making, teamwork, communication, motivation, and problem-solving skills. The sessions also encouraged participants to reflect on their role as leaders in creating positive change within their savings groups and communities. 💡💪

On Day 2, the training continued with activities focused on individualized consideration, community engagement, idealized influence, and leadership commitment. Through Squares, Pass the Ball, and Leadership Creed, participants learned the importance of inclusiveness, trust, cooperation, integrity, accountability, and positive influence in effective leadership. 🤝🌿

The two-day training concluded with a synthesis of key learnings and a consultation on SEED investments, allowing participating groups to discuss their priorities, plans, and next steps. 🌱📋

🫁 ACF Activity | Free Chest X-Ray

MARADECA, through the Active Case Finding (ACF) initiative, continued bringing free chest X-ray services closer to communities across Bohol, Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga del Norte. From August 19–24, 2026, the team conducted screening activities in various barangays, reaching a total of 1,705 profiled clients. 💙🏥

The activities covered communities in Pres. Carlos Garcia, Dimataling, Piñan, Butig, Marawi City, Labangan, President Manuel A. Roxas, Kapatagan, and Dumingag, providing accessible TB screening services to community members. 🤝🌍

On August 21, 2026, Savings Group leaders from Sulu and Basilan gathered at LM Metro Hotel in Zamboanga City for the second day of Savings Group Leaders Training 103. 🤝✨

Day 2 continued the participants’ journey toward strengthening their understanding and application of transformational leadership, focusing on individualized consideration, community engagement, idealized influence, leadership values, and commitment.

Through interactive activities such as Squares, Pass the Ball, and Leadership Creed, participants explored the importance of understanding individual strengths and perspectives, building trust and cooperation, encouraging community participation, and leading with integrity and accountability. 💡💪

The training concluded with a synthesis and integration of the key lessons from the two-day activity, followed by a consultation on SEED investments, where participants discussed their plans, priorities, and next steps for their savings groups and communities. 🌱🤝

🌱 Savings Group Leaders Training 103 – Day 1

On August 20, 2026, MARADECA conducted the Savings Group Leaders Training 103 – Day 1 at LM Metro Hotel, Zamboanga City, bringing together Savings Group leaders and beneficiaries from Sulu and Basilan. 🤝

The training focused on strengthening leadership capacities and deepening participants’ understanding of transformational leadership. Through interactive discussions and participatory activities, participants explored the dimensions of a transforming community and the key elements of transformational leadership, including positive influence, effective communication, shared vision, motivation, and empowerment. 💡🗣️

Participants also took part in engaging activities such as the Survival Game and Gauntlet Run, which helped develop critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, perseverance, and motivational leadership skills. 💪✨

🤝 Building Stronger CSOs through Advocacy and Strategic Communication

On August 20–21, 2026, MARADECA, Inc. conducted the Advocacy, Networking, Lobbying, and Communication Strategy Training for its partner Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), bringing together representatives from the Peace Builder Youth Organization (PBYO) and Women’s Marketing Cooperative (WMC).

The two-day training aimed to strengthen the capacity of partner CSOs to effectively advocate for community issues, build meaningful networks and partnerships, engage decision-makers through lobbying, and develop strategic communication approaches that amplify their organizational and community voices. 🗣️📣

The activity also provided an opportunity for PBYO and WMC to develop their respective Advocacy and Communication Plans, serving as a guide for their future advocacy initiatives, partnerships, and community engagement efforts. 🌱🤝

From August 10 to 18, 2026, the MARADECA Team, through the Active Case Finding (ACF) initiative, continued bringing free chest X-ray services closer to communities across Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Bohol, and Marawi City. 🩻💙

The activities were conducted in various barangays and municipalities, reaching hundreds of community members through accessible TB screening services. These efforts aim to support the early detection of tuberculosis, encourage timely referral and treatment, and help protect families and communities from the spread of TB. 🤝🌍
