UPDATE ON THE DOG IN KABANKALAN CITY
Following another viral post involving alleged animal cruelty, BACH Project PH, together with HARKA Welfare Project and sir Jaypee Lobaton, responded to the report. We have volunteers in the city, and after receiving a request for assistance from a fellow animal rescue organization, our team proceeded to investigate the incident.
We first went to the barangay to file a report. Unfortunately, since it was the weekend, the barangay office was closed. We then proceeded to the police station to file a complaint, but we were advised that the incident must first be blottered at the barangay before the police can formally process the case.
Afterward, we visited the home of Sir Danny, where Jack-Jack is currently staying.
We would like to acknowledge that Sir Danny’s family was very cooperative. They welcomed our team into their home, answered our questions, and allowed us to check on Jack-Jack without hesitation.
Sir Danny is a person with disability (PWD). He is unable to hear or speak and communicates primarily through English and sign language, so an interpreter assisted us during our conversation.
From what we personally observed, Jack-Jack appears to be well cared for and loved by the family. During our discussion, Sir Danny expressed remorse and conveyed his sincere apology to the public for what happened.
While we appreciate their cooperation and sincerity, animal cruelty is still animal cruelty, and the incident deserves to go through the proper legal process. Compassion and accountability can exist at the same time.
For Jack-Jack’s welfare, we requested that he be removed from Sir Danny’s direct care while the matter is being addressed. The family agreed, and Jack-Jack will stay with another family member in the meantime.
On Monday, BACH Project PH and HARKA will file the proper barangay blotter. We appreciate Sir Danny’s family for agreeing to accompany us and fully cooperate throughout the process. Once the blotter has been completed, we will proceed to the police station to formally file the complaint and allow the legal process to take its course.
Our goal has never been to publicly shame anyone. We are here to protect animals, ensure their welfare, and uphold the law while treating everyone involved with fairness, respect, and dignity.
We also thank sir Jaypee, HARKA team, and the fellow rescue organizations that reached out to us. Animal welfare is strongest when organizations work together with one common goal: protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.
We respectfully ask everyone to allow the proper authorities to do their work, refrain from spreading hate or making threats, and let due process take its course. Our focus remains, as always, on the welfare of Jack-Jack and every animal that needs our help.
