For those who wish to donate blood, the USM Extension Services in collaboration with the USM Hospital, USM Volunteers Club, and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) will conduct a Blood Donation Drive on February 17, 2026, 08:00 AM at USM Hospital, Kabacan, Cotabato.

We encourage students, faculty, staff, and community members to take part in this life-saving activity.

𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗜 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝟱 𝗚𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗖𝗖 𝗮𝘁 𝗨𝗦𝗠

The USM Academic and Support Staff Association Inc. (USMASSAI) received 5 gestating buffaloes from DA-PCC at USM during the 31st Founding Anniversary of DA-PCC at USM on January 26, 2026 at DA-PCC Compound, USM, Kabacan Cotabato.

Dr. Concepcion Magallon, the USMASSAI President, along with the USMASSAI Officers, graced the activity. In her message, Dr. Magallon expressed her gratitude to DA-PCC at USM for the generous grant of buffaloes. She underscored that it is a vital opportunity to cultivate sustainable livelihood for the members.

“We will take care of the animals and padadamihin naming yan to its full potential… Thank you for trusting us and supporting the welfare of the association,” she noted.

Notably, USMASSAI and PCC at USM signed a Memorandum of Agreement on September 01, 2025. It was said the agreement that DA-PCC at USM will provide dairy buffaloes, technical training, and support services covering animal production, breeding, health management, and milk processing. USMASSAI, in turn, will oversee the management of dispersed animals, facilitate member participation, and ensure compliance with program requirements.

The entrustment of the buffaloes were under the Carabao Herd Build-Up (CHB) Project of PCC. It aims to increase the animal holdings of dairy farmers by providing pregnant breeding stocks from DA-PCC and agistment farms, improve buffalo genetics and reproductive efficiency, and boost milk production to ensure a stable supply for carabao-based enterprises.

Present during the entrustment were Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the USM President and a new member of USMASSAI, Dr. Geoffray R. Atok, the DA-PCC at USM Director, Hon. Ben Guzman, the Kabacan Municipal Administrator, Representatives from Cotabato Province, and partner agencies and farmers of DA-PCC at USM.

It has come to our attention that certain individuals or entities doing business under the name of 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 are engaging in the unauthorized distribution, production, or commercialization of USM corn varieties without proper authority or consent from the University of Southern Mindanao or its authorized representative.

We strongly advise the public that USM has not granted any permission, license nor authority to Marao Integrated Farm to perform such activities. Any individual or group found to be unlawfully using the name, facilities, or corn varieties of USM for any purpose shall be held liable under applicable Philippine laws.

We reiterate that the University of Southern Mindanao has not authorized or entered into any licensing agreement or any other agreement with Marao Integrated Farm for distribution, production, or commercialization of any USM corn variety. Furthermore, any corn seeds distributed by Marao Integrated Farm are not sourced from, nor endorsed by, the University of Southern Mindanao.

We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unauthorized activity to the proper authorities. For verification and legitimate concerns, you may contact us directly through [email protected].

Let this notice serve as a warning to those engaging in such unauthorized practices. We reserve the right to pursue legal action against any individual or entity found in violation of this advisory.

The USM Academic and Support Staff Association Inc. (USMASSAI) shared financial assistance to the activities of the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS) and Alpha Phi Omega recently through organizing a Kanduli at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, Cotabato, in celebration of Eid'l Fitr.

The said financial support was given to support the IFTAR meal for the Muslim brothers and sisters within the university to strengthen the spirit of unity and generosity during the month of Ramadhan.

In celebration of its 46th Founding Anniversary, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Hospital gathered 50 kids from a community in Kabacan for their “Adopt a Kid for a Day” Program on February 11, 2025, at the USM Hospital, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

USM Hospital partnered with McDonalds-Kidapawan for a fun-filled event for children. McDonalds Mascots like Birdie, Grimace, and Hamburglar joined in the celebration that made the celebration fun and exciting. The children, together with their parents, received food packs, gifts, and prizes as a reward for participating in the games prepared by McDonalds crew.
