In its continued commitment to environmental restoration, the Working on Environmental Restoration and Preservation Advocacy (W.E.R.P.A.) paid a courtesy visit to Board Member of District I Honorable Amin Djaliv Hataman, to formally introduce and discuss Project “LUNTIAN: 10,000 Puno para sa Kalikasan.”

‎W.E.R.P.A presented the project’s vision and ongoing efforts, highlighting its initial phase which involved the distribution and planting of 1,000 native tree seedlings, including Malabayabas, Manggasinoro, Narra, and White Lauan, in selected upland communities such as Panunsulan, Small Kapatagan, and Maligue Elementary School.

‎Project Luntian is designed to strengthen community engagement in environmental protection, with particular emphasis on involving children in hands-on conservation activities. By encouraging young participants to take responsibility for the care and growth of the seedlings, the project aims to nurture environmental awareness and stewardship from an early age.

‎During the visit, Hon. Amin Hataman conveyed his support for the initiative and acknowledged the value of community-based and youth-centered environmental programs in promoting sustainable development. W.E.R.P.A. also presented the Project Luntian shirt as part of its fundraising initiatives to support the continued implementation of the project. (Photos courtesy of City Information Office)

On February 6, 2026, the Working on Environmental Restoration and Preservation Advocacy (W.E.R.P.A.) paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman to formally inform her of the recently launched Project "LUNTIAN: 10,000 Puno para sa Kalikasan."

The project began with the distribution and planting of 1,000 native tree seedlings, including Malabayabas, Mangosinero, Narra, and White Lauan, in upland community including Panunsulan, Small Kapatagan and Maligue Elementary School.

‎Project Luntian aims to encourage community participation, particularly among children, who will be involved not only in planting but also in nurturing the seedlings as they grow. Through this initiative, W.E.R.P.A. hopes to instill environmental responsibility at an early age—growing both trees and future stewards of nature.

‎During the visit, the Honorable Mayor expressed her full support for the initiative, recognizing the importance of community-led environmental actions and youth involvement in environmental protection and restoration. W.E.R.P.A. also took the opportunity to present and market the Project Luntian shirt to the Mayor as part of the organization’s fundraising efforts in support of the project.

𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘? 🤔

Disposable coffee cups are rarely recyclable due to their plastic lining, which means most end up in landfills and contribute to environmental pollution.

Tip #11: ☕
Bring your own reusable cup when buying drinks, and remember to clean it regularly so you can use it safely while reducing single-use waste.

Sip sustainably. Reuse always.
