Feeding and Gift Giving Brings Hope to Subanen Learners of Limanon 2

The Adventist Mission & Communication Department brought joy and hope to the community of Limanon 2 Primary School, in San Isidro, Tungawan Zamboanga Sibugay through its Feeding and Gift Giving Program, a heartfelt initiative that became a symbol of unity and compassion.

The program opened with a short devotional, reminding everyone that true service begins with gratitude to God. Learners, parents, and teachers bowed their heads in prayer, setting a reverent tone for the day’s activities.

A total of 34 learners received nourishing meals and thoughtful gifts, while 24 parents were blessed with special prizes. The event was not only about meeting physical needs but also about strengthening bonds within the school and the wider community.

Teacher Ledilyn Bontuyan expressed her gratitude, saying: “This program shows our children that they are loved and valued. It teaches them that kindness and generosity are part of their education.”

Parents also felt the impact of the initiative. Parent representative Majune Cabunilas shared: “We are thankful for the support given to our children. It inspires us, as parents, to continue working together for their future.”

The success of the activity was made possible through the generosity of sponsors and donors: the Adventist Mission and Communication Department, Lanie Ramsdail of Green Ville USA, and Ma. Delia Tamayo, Retired Master Teacher II. Their contributions reflected the spirit of giving that uplifts communities and nurtures faith.

Beyond the gifts and meals, the program reminded everyone that service is an expression of faith. It was a living testimony that when people unite under God’s purpose, blessings overflow.

As the day ended, smiles filled the school grounds, and hearts were strengthened with hope. The Feeding and Gift Giving program stood as a clear message: serving others is not only an act of compassion but also an act of obedience to God.

In unity and service, the community of Limanon 2 Primary School was reminded that God’s love is best reflected when His people share, care, and build each other up.

Building Bridges of Friendship and Understanding

Adventist and Muslim leaders came together in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, on December 7, 2025, for a meaningful interfaith dialogue aimed at strengthening relationships and fostering mutual respect.

The Adventist delegation, led by Pastor Ranny De Vera, AMR Coordinator, and Pastor Vilmar Mandalupa, Adventist Mission Director, engaged with local Muslim leaders to explore shared values and opportunities for collaboration in promoting peace and harmony.

Following the dialogue, participants shared a fellowship meal, exchanging stories and laughter—a reminder that unity grows not only through conversation, but also through shared experiences that bring hearts closer.

This gathering reflects the commitment of both communities to build lasting friendships, promote understanding, and work together for the welfare of the wider community.

WHY?
by JayR

One quiet afternoon in the island of Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi, the sun was beginning to rest over the calm sea. I walked with my two students, Ailyn and Silyn, along the boulevard. The waves whispered softly beside us, and the sky began to turn golden.

Ailyn was a shy student quiet but full of curiosity. As we walked, she looked up at me and asked, “Sir, why did you come here to Sitangkai?”

I smiled and said, “Because Allah (SWT) sent me here.” She tilted her head and asked again, “Why, Sir?”

I looked at the sea stretching endlessly before us and replied, “Because He wants to help you. He wants to show how great His love is for all of us.” Still curious, she asked once more, “Why, Sir?”

This time, I just smiled, pointed toward the horizon, and said, “Look at the sea, the land, the fish, and the people over there. Did Allah (SWT) love them?”

They looked at the view — the beauty of Sitangkai, the calm water, and the lives around them — and smiled brightly. “Yes, Sir!” they said.

I nodded and replied, “That’s why Allah (SWT) sent me here — because
He loves you, and He wants you to know it.

Indeed, when you find your ‘why’, you’ll understand why God put you where you are.

In His Presence
by Josue

In the village of Denoyan lived a kind grandmother named Lola Eden.

She loved God with all her heart. Every evening, she walked to the meetings with her two grandchildren, Amiel and Hannah. Together, they sat in the front row, listening carefully to God’s Word.

One night, dark clouds filled the sky. The wind howled. Heavy rain began to pour. Many neighbors hurried home.

But not Lola Eden. She wrapped her grandchildren in blankets and said with faith,
“It is better to be soaked in God’s presence than to be dry without Him.”

The preacher’s voice rose above the storm. The tent shook as the wind pounded against it.

Suddenly—CRACK!

A huge tree near their house fell. Its heavy branches smashed the roof in half. Everyone gasped.

If Lola Eden and her grandchildren had stayed at home, they might have been crushed under that tree.

But instead, Lola Eden bowed her head and whispered, “Thank You, Lord, for keeping us safe in Your presence.”

The church family quickly gathered to help. They shared food, offered shelter, and gave kind care.

Indeed, God’s presence is the safest place to be.

Leaving Tomorrow
by Kimley

Far away in the Philippines, near the border of Malaysia, there is a tiny island called Mapun. To reach it, people must ride a wooden boat called a lantsa. The trip is very long—sometimes 30 to 40 hours across the big, restless sea.

Many volunteers were afraid to go there. At first, I told myself, “I will never go there either.”

But God had a plan. He chose us to go to Mapun with my wife. And our journey of faith began—not in the waves of the sea, but in the waiting.

One Thursday, I received a call: “The lantsa will leave tomorrow, on Friday!”

My wife and I packed our things quickly and hurried to the port. But when we arrived, the captain shook his head. "Not tonight,” he said. “We leave tomorrow.”

So we waited.

Saturday came: “Tomorrow.”
Sunday came: “Tomorrow.”
Monday came: “Tomorrow.”
Tuesday came: still, “Tomorrow.”

Each day we grew tired. We wondered when “tomorrow” would finally come.

But while we waited, God showed His love to us. Kind people welcomed us into their homes. They gave us food, a place to rest, and smiles that encouraged our hearts.

Just like the Captain of the Lantsa, God was teaching us to trust His timing, not ours.

At last, on Wednesday, after many days of waiting, the boat finally left the port. The long-awaited “tomorrow” had come!

Sometimes life feels just like that waiting at the port—full of delays and unanswered questions. But God’s delays are not God’s “No.”

Every waiting time is a growing time. He uses it to protect us, prepare us, and make us strong.

Indeed, we don't know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds our tomorrow.
