Visit Community Native Planting Project at Meadow Day.

Join us for UP Meadow Day hosted by Town of University Park Maryland Sat June 27 from 9 - 12 noon at the UP Native Wildflower Pollinator Meadow on Adelphi across from the Hyattsville Library. You are invited! We love dogs too and please leave your dog at home - thank you.

2026 University Park Meadow Day will feature family fun and education around the meadow! Costumes welcome at the Pollinator Parades, enjoy the face painting and dress up as a pollinator at the UP Meadow Day Selfie Station. Light refreshments served. Learn from the UP Tree Program what trees support caterpillars that become butterflies seen flying in the meadow. Find out more about native bees and honey bees - and the differences thanks to BUMBA, the Bowie- Upper Marlboro Beekeepers Association. Bring a native plant home while supplies last, grown professionally supported by the Sustainable MD grant and a Monarch Watch plant grant. Learn from our presenters Anacostia Watershed Society the latest about our watershed. PG County residents can sign up for more information on a wildlife habitat consultation with PG County Audubon Society. UP residents can sign up for a large compost cart and all PG residents can learn more about the PG County Compost program. Find out about the Styrofoam Recycling Program and see native bees up close with entomologist Francis Mullen. Learn more about native plants that support the endangered Monarch Butterfly from the Chesapeake chapter of Wild Ones, and adopt a Maryland native caterpillars from the City of Hyattsville. Of course admire the UP Native Wildflower Meadow and take a quiz to win native wildflower seeds to bring home to plant. Please leave your dog at home.

Because Public Libraries Are the Best!

You all know we love Bladensburg Library! This week CNPP worked with its Teen Action Group to expand our native plant habitats there.

It was the first time planting for nearly all the 25 middle and high schoolers who joined us - and they did a fantastic job!
