Back when I was younger, a bottle of Yakult felt like a luxury treat. We’d eagerly wait for the Yakult lady to pass by, practically begging our parents for just one bottle. Most days, we’d hear a firm “no,” but every now and then, we’d get lucky.
My parents had their own clever trick, though—they’d carefully peel off the foil lid without tearing it, refill the bottle with regular milk, and seal it back up. Their little “homemade Yakult” was their way of stretching the moment… and the budget.

Of course we can tell the difference, but we drank it anyway. :)

Dr. Ju-Im Jimlan is a renowned educator, and Head Teacher I at Tamalagon Integrated School in the district of Tangalan, Aklan. Recently, he was promoted as Master Teacher I in the elementary department at the same school.

He is a national winner of the Dangal ng Bayan Award, a prestigious recognition given by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for outstanding public service. He is also a recepient of the Aklans Ten Outstanding Mentor (ATOM) of the Schools Division of Aklan, and he develops the TIS Hymn, the Official School Hymn of the school. Dr. Jimlan's passion for teaching stems from his painful experiences growing up in Marawi, where he witnessed the transformative power of education.

Jimlan developed innovative teaching approaches, such as Tuklas-Aral, and Bisita-Kumustahan which have benefited numerous students. Dr. Jimlan is also actively involved in community work, school supply drives for school children, volunteering during disasters like Typhoon Odette, and organizing donation drives for COVID-19 frontliners.

The whole TIS community and the Editorial Board and Public Affairs Team of the Integrated Echo extend its sincerest condolences to the family of the late Dr Ju-im Jimlan. With profound love, we join to the prayer for the soul of our beloved sir Ju-im.

May the Good Lord grant him eternal rest. Amen.
