Thatโs a wrap on UX Photo Safari 2: Designing Downtown! ๐ธ๐๏ธ
We had an incredible turnout last May 9, with 12 passionate participants joining us to explore the heart of Iloilo City through the lens of UX.
We kicked things off at the GoldBerry Lite Hotel with a lively icebreaker. It was amazing to hear everyone share their personal experiencesโboth good and badโwhen navigating the city. It was a great way to see the group connect over shared frustrations and ideas.
Led by Dr. Vic Salas, we conducted a walking tour through the cityโs historical core. Our route took us from the Celso V. Ledesma house to the Central Market, Plazoleta Gay, JM Basa St., and Plaza Libertad, finally concluding at the Museum of Philippine Economic History. It was a long walk, but participants were able to document many different parts of the city proper.
At the museum, participants presented their findingsโfrom confusing street signage at the JalandoniโE. Lopez intersection and low visibility of road connections, to underutilized spaces, tangled overhead wires, and sidewalk obstructions. These observations sparked thoughtful discussions on how we can design safer, more navigable public spaces, especially when it comes to accessibility, usability, and wayfinding.
A huge thank you to:
โข Our heritage tour guide, Dr. Vicente โVicโ Salas
โข Our generous venue partners, Goldberry Lite Hotel Iloilo and the Museum of Philippine Economic History
โข Our dedicated core volunteers who helped everything run smoothly
โข And most importantly, our participants for bringing curiosity, energy, and insight to the walk
Stay tuned for the next UX Photo Safari.
