D’JRRN BAGS FIRST PLACE IN KONSYERTO PARA SA KALIKASAN AT PAGKAKAPANTAY-PANTAY YEAR 3.
D’JRRN of the BTLED group from the College of Education bested 5 other contesting groups and emerged the winner in the recently concluded Konsyerto Para sa Kalikasan at Pagkakapantay-pantay held on November 25, 2024 at the Multipurpose Educational Center. The group’s captivating performance of their original rhythmic rap composition entitled Kalikasang Pantay –Pantay resonating with optimism of gender equality and ecological stewardship enthralled both the judges and the audience. The D’JRRN is composed of Jonard Tayan, the band leader and the songwriter; Jhon Mar Beaniza; Naomi Contreras and Rhyd Gadiama all from the BTLED program.
Hailed at second place was the band, Green Minds whose members believed that a healthy planet and a just society are inextricably linked. Their song composition Echoing Green Voices, was an upbeat tune with beautifully blended vocals of Berla Faith Bagcal (BSED Sci 2A) and Ivan Henrick Jaleco (BSED Math 3A). The other band members playing the drums and guitars were Clarence Rae Belvis ( BTVTED AT 2A) Ken Gabriel Tamonan (BTVTED AT 2A) and Amir Hamza Amiyong (BEED 4A)
Coming in third was the dark horse, The Verniers who decided to join the competition on the eleventh hour. Formed by a group of mechanical engineering students, the band came together from a shared love of OPM music and is a perfect blend of creativity and technical skills. With exceptionally good song lyrics, utmost musical performance of their Song Tayo ang Simula, this band captivated their audience especially with their guitar playing . The band members are Dave Loui Gumarang, Vince Kharlo Caringal, Romer Jerome Lemery, Wilkerson Pericon and Dionilyn Garote .
Consolation prizes were also awarded to the bands : Sibil Uno of BSCE 1B, One Point Zero of BSME 2B and Arkitek Monkeys of BSA 2A.
The Konsyerto Para Sa Kalikasan At Pagkakapantay-pantay is on its third year and is an annual contest in songwriting and singing on the theme of environmental stewardship, sustainability and gender equality. This year’s event is held in celebration of the Global Warning and Climate Change Consciousness Week. The succes of this competition was due to the collaborative efforts of the ISAT U Environmental Club, Environment and Climate Change - SSEDMMO, Natural Science Department, and University Gender and Development Center with the management and supervision of Ms. Rosanna D. Dureza, Head of Environment and Climate Change in ISAT U Iloilo City Campus.
