𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗡𝗢𝗪!

The youth of San Isidro, Jaro gathered on May 24, 2026 for the TobaccOFF initiative, a youth-centered anti-smoking and anti-va**ng talk spearheaded by Ms. Franz Figueroa of INAYA PH, in collaboration with Kabataan sa Kartilya ng Katipunan and in partnership with HPFPI Youth Iloilo and SK San Isidro. TobaccOFF NOW!, a national youth-led to***co control initiative of the Positive Youth Development Network, aims to encourage young people to “back off” from nicotine-infused products such as to***co, ci******es, and v**es while raising awareness on the growing dangers of smoking and va**ng among the youth.

The talk highlighted how va**ng has become increasingly normalized and glamorized through trendy flavors, social media influence, attractive packaging, and highly accessible v**e shops that appeal to young people. Aligned with broader public health movements in the Philippines, the initiative encouraged participants to become advocates for healthier lifestyles and a more informed, smoke-free generation through awareness-building discussions and community engagement.🫁❤️‍🩹

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 ❤️‍🔥

The first-ever Iloilo City Youth Summit, held on May 7–8, 2026, began with an inspiring Day 1 session that challenged Iloilo’s youth to dream bigger, lead boldly, and grow with purpose. Mx. Gab Umadhay opened the discussions with “Voice, Vision, and Action: Leadership in Youth Development,” emphasizing authentic self-expression and responsible leadership. Alexie Brooks then shared her journey as a young Ilongga who began her pageantry career locally before becoming Ms. Eco International 2025, highlighting the quiet strength found in femininity and encouraging the youth to embrace their unique identity with confidence and authenticity. To conclude the morning session, Dr. Jasper Vijar underscored the importance of wellness and provided practical strategies for maintaining overall well-being in today’s fast-paced world.

In the afternoon, the advocacy talk segment featured 20-minute presentations from organizations dedicated to empowering and mobilizing young leaders. The advocacy speakers included the Office of the City Population Officer, which emphasized the importance of self-control and responsible decision-making, promoting abstinence from premarital s*x among the youth. Other organizations, such as Kabataan sa Kartilya ng Katipunan, Iloilo Science and Technology University Human Services Society, Iloilo City Federated Peer Support Group, Proyekto Volunteers Network, CAMELEON Association Inc., Junior Chamber International Regatta, and Greenpeace Philippines – Iloilo Volunteers, also shared their respective advocacies, organizational backgrounds, and opportunities for Kabataang Ilonggo to engage in meaningful volunteer work and community involvement.
Day 1 concluded with participants feeling empowered, informed, and inspired. From leadership and personal growth to wellness and volunteerism, the sessions strengthened a deeper sense of purpose among the youth and reminded them of their potential to become transformative leaders in their communities.🤩🩵
