Today, we celebrate 89 years of ๐ฎ๐ซ๐›๐š๐ง ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ, ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐œ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ ๐ž since Iloilo City became a chartered city on August 25, 1937.

Iloilo City's journey to cityhood happened during the American Commonwealth era when Commonwealth Act No. 158 was enacted to consolidate five wealthy, independent municipalities into a unified metropolitan powerhouse.

Despite being unified under one city hall for 89 years, Iloilo City's districts maintain their unique identities through distinct cultural festivals, specialized culinary legacies, architectural landmarks, and preserved layout structures.

The primary objective of this localized holiday is to give the people of Iloilo City full opportunity to participate in, honor, and enjoy the milestones of their 89th cityhood celebration
