The College of Computer Studies at MSU-IIT buzzed with electric energy on June 30, as its Computer Science Lab hosted ByteBattle 2025. This dynamic programming competition challenged participants on logic, efficiency, and crucial collaboration skills. While open to all aspiring programmers, this year's event was predominantly from MSU-IIT students, complemented by two notable CCS interns from Team Codebox. Embracing the theme "Walang Iwanan sa Digital Bayanihan,โ ByteBattle truly celebrated the collective power of coding and problem-solving.
Three teams dove into the fray, racing against the clock to conquer algorithmic problems under pressure. Emerging as champions with an impressive 64 points was Team Codebox, composed of Hussam Bansao, Al-Rajhi Saber, and Jovael Mohamadali. Notably, Saber and Mohamadali, both interns from outside MSU-IIT, brought fresh perspectives that seamlessly complemented Bansao's seasoned experience. Taking second place was Team KamoBuotSaAmongTeamName, represented by Jiandale Ambal and Andrew Corpuz, while Team Untried, made up of Kenneth Restauro and Melvin Anggot rounded out the competition in third.
"The problems were initially difficult. No team was able to solve anything early on," Bansao recalled. In response, the organizers quickly adjusted the time limits and problem difficulty to keep the event competitive and rewarding for all participants. This swift adaptation highlighted the importance of flexibilityโone of the key lessons the event aimed to impart.
ByteBattle 2025 served as a training ground for future developers, offering real-world experience in coding under pressure, making decisions as a team, and adapting on the fly. For both MSU-IIT students and visiting interns, the event reinforced that growth in tech doesnโt just come from mastering algorithms; it also comes from learning to collaborate, communicate, and persist.
