Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. participated during the Traffic Code Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting convened to review the Municipality’s Traffic Ordinance on April 22, 2026, at the Municipal Conference Hall.
Chaired by Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. Gando, the meeting focused on the detailed review of each article and section of the proposed ordinance to strengthen its provisions. The ordinance seeks to establish a comprehensive legal and policy framework for effective traffic regulation, enhanced road safety, improved transport management, and consistent enforcement within the municipality.

Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. attends Zoning Board Meeting of the Municipality of Jordan, Guimaras.

The GICCII actively participated in the Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting held on April 8, 2026, at the Municipal Conference Hall.

The session was presided over by Municipal Mayor John Edward G. Gando, where the Board carefully reviewed and ruled on three zoning-related cases. These cases involved applications for exemptions and compliance with existing zoning regulations.

Each case was thoroughly evaluated in line with current policies and the recommendations of the Zoning Officer. The Board provided appropriate actions, including securing necessary permits and applying for exemptions when required.

This meeting highlights the continued commitment to proper land use, regulatory compliance, and sustainable development within the municipality.

The Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. joins MDRRMC 2nd Quarter Meeting of Jordan, Guimaras which highlights Safe and Successful Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid 2026.

The GICCII took part in the MDRRMC 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting of the Municipality of Jordan, Guimaras held on April 8, 2026, at the Municipal Conference Hall.

The meeting was presided over by Municipal Mayor John Edward G. Gando, where key highlights included the successful conduct of Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid 2026, recording zero major incidents.

Mayor Gando credited this achievement to the strong coordination among partner agencies, municipal staff, traffic enforcers, and council members.

A report from the Municipal Tourism Office revealed a significant increase in pilgrims, with over 18,000 attendees during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday this year, compared to more than 6,000 in 2025.

Meanwhile, PLT Benjie Ganancial, Deputy Chief of Police, reported 15,808 tourists recorded in a single day (April 3), highlighting effective inter-agency collaboration that ensured a safe and orderly event. Key observations included smooth operations at Parola Wharf, full vessel deployment, and no health-related incidents reported.

Stakeholders also shared recommendations to further enhance future events, such as:

*Replicating the Zoom Monitoring System;
*Ensuring fire extinguishers per cluster;
*Installing clear directional signage; and,
*Continuing the child-tagging system for safety.

The MDRRMC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and coordination, with Mayor Gando encouraging continuous teamwork and improved planning for upcoming activities.

The Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc (GICCII) attended the 1st Quarter Meeting of the Guimaras Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (PMSMEDC) held last March 23, 2026.

Key topics discussed were:
*localization of the Philippine MSME Development Plan 2023-2028;
*passing of resolution to support Mango Export;
* presentation of Test Export Marketing Plan; and,
*formulation of startegies for implementing the Plastic Ordinance.

Provincial Economic Development Officer Francis E. Gentoral, presided the meeting, acting is behalf of Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, as PMSMEDC Chairperson.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Guimaras served as the Council Secretariat.

The Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. joined the recently held Consultative Meeting on proposed fare adjustments for sea transport routes of Jordan, Guimaras -Iloilo City, Buenavista, Guimaras -Iloilo City and vice versa.

The meeting was led by Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava and Congressman JC Rahman A. Nava with ferry operators, local leaders, and key stakeholders.

The dialogue resulted in an agreed probitionary fare increase of Php 40.00 for regular passengers and Php 32.00 for students, senior citizens, and PWDs ( in consideration of the 20% discount).

Ferry operators emphasized that the fare adjustment is needed due to the abnormal increase of fuel costs and various regulatory fees required by agencies to sustain their operations, comply labor regulations, and maintain strict safety standards for sea travel.

The Provincial Government also reaffirmed its commitment to balancing commuter welfare and transport operation sustainability.

The Guimaras Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc, in its continued pursuit to participate in elevating the Municipality of Jordan's capacity to welcome and serve tourists, The Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Tourism, History, Culture, and Arts has made a decisive step by proposing an ordinance that establishes clear guidelines for Department of Tourism (DOT) accreditation for primary and secondary tourism enterprises within the municipality.

This initiative is more than just policy—it is a commitment to quality, safety, and excellence in every visitor experience.
