MSU Riders, here’s what the ‘Safe Space’ sticker means!

MSU Riders are now proudly sporting their ‘Safe Space’ stickers — a mark of their commitment to safe and inclusive rides within campus!

Led by Empress MSU with support from OSDS, GAD, SSC, Babaylanes Inc., and Bahagsubay Gensan, this initiative ensures that our community rides with respect, accountability, and equality on every trip.

Let’s continue to verify our rides: look for the official uniforms, rider numbers, and Safe Space stickers — because every MSUan deserves a journey that’s both safe and inclusive.

‎MSU Riders earn 'safe space' stickers as proof of commitment to safe, inclusive rides

‎The Empress MSU, led by project leader Cendie Garcia and president Russel Bankas, in partnership with the Office of Student Development Services (OSDS), Gender and Development (GAD), Supreme Student Council (SSC), Babaylanes Inc., and Bahagsubay Gensan, distributed Safe Space stickers to members of the MSU Riders Association this Thursday afternoon.

‎Stickers serve as proof that riders have completed the GAD seminar “Ride with Pride: Gender Sensitivity and Safe Spaces on the Road,” which promotes safe and inclusive commuting within the campus.
‎
‎This initiative also comes amid riders’ concerns over the increasing number of individuals posing as campus riders by wearing fake uniforms and using imitation MSU logo stickers.
‎
‎Garcia reminded MSUans to stay vigilant when availing motorcycle rides, noting that only accredited riders wear official uniforms with names, assigned numbers, and designated colors: red for Monday and Thursday, maroon for Tuesday and Friday, and blue for Wednesday.
‎
‎Meanwhile, Jerameel Sanico, a member of the MSU Riders Association, emphasized the importance of recognizing accredited members.
‎
‎“Once musulod nga di naka uniform ug di ga sulod sa patakaran, suspended gyud ang rider. Kanang mga ga byahe nga di naka uniform di na namo kauban,” Sanico expressed.
‎
‎Empress MSU and its partners urge MSUans to verify riders’ accreditation and be vigilant by checking uniforms, and ‘Safe Space’ stickers, especially as the university prepares for the upcoming Intramurals.

RIDE WITH PRIDE!

Mas handa na ngayon ang ating riders — hindi lang sa byahe, kundi sa pagpapalaganap ng respeto at inclusivity sa loob at labas ng Pamantasan.

Through Ride with Pride by Empress MSU, together with SSC MSU-Gensan and Bahagsubay Gensan, our riders learned how gender sensitivity and safe spaces make every journey safer and kinder.

Safe & Inclusive Roads for All!

Riders aren’t just service providers—they’re partners in building respect and safety on campus. Yet, many LGBTQIA+ and marginalized commuters still face harassment and unsafe rides.

Through this campaign, MSU Riders, in partnership with Bahagsubay-GenSan, commit to lead with dignity, inclusivity, and responsibility.

Safe rides, safe spaces. Together, let’s make every journey respectful and inclusive.

🚦 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 & 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀! 🏍️🌈

Riders must be more than just service providers, they should be our daily partners in creating respect, safety, and inclusivity on the road. Safe journeys are a shared responsibility among students, staff, and riders, and through this gender sensitivity and safe spaces campaign, we can uphold dignity and peace for all.

Many LGBTQIA++ individuals and other marginalized commuters experience discrimination, harassment, or unsafe practices while traveling on campus. Such incidents undermine their safety, mental health, and overall sense of belonging in the university community.

However, 𝗐𝖾 𝖺𝗅𝗌𝗈 𝖺𝖼𝗄𝗇𝗈𝗐𝗅𝖾𝖽𝗀𝖾 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝗌𝗈𝗆𝖾 𝗂𝗌𝗌𝗎𝖾𝗌 𝗈𝗇 𝖼𝖺𝗆𝗉𝗎𝗌 𝗌𝖺𝖿𝖾𝗍𝗒 𝖼𝗈𝗆𝖾 𝖿𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝗎𝗇𝗋𝖾𝗀𝗂𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗋𝖾𝖽 𝗈𝗋 𝗎𝗇𝖺𝗎𝗍𝗁𝗈𝗋𝗂𝗓𝖾𝖽 𝗋𝗂𝖽𝖾𝗋𝗌. This initiative empowers MSU Riders to lead by example, show commitment to inclusivity, and help address challenges that affect our community.

More than just a summit, Kenlung SOX 2025 was a space of reflection, healing, and collective empowerment. It brought together stories of struggle, resilience, and hope—each one reminding us why the fight for LGBTQIA+ economic inclusion and workplace equality must continue.

Every breakout session, shared meal, and warm conversation planted seeds of change. For many, it was the first time they felt seen, heard, and held by a community that truly understands.

This gathering was a reminder that advocacy is personal, that behind every policy and push for reform are real lives and lived experiences.

To everyone who showed up with courage and vulnerability. Thank you for making Kenlung truly meaningful.

As we conclude the empowering 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐎𝐗 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, we’re also celebrating a moment close to our hearts: 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 as a youth-led LGBTQIA+ organization! 🥳💖

It all started on a random 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 when a diverse group of passionate individuals from different parts of General Santos City gathered in a humble chicken house, united by one dream — to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for q***r youth. That simple moment became the beginning of Bahagsubay, a movement rooted in love, community, and resistance.

From that first meeting to this milestone event, we have grown stronger, louder, and more committed to our advocacy. Today, we honor every voice, every story, and every soul who helped us reach this point. 💪🏽✨
