SUMPAY IT FORWARD!

As part of SOM:PIA’s goal to sumpay psychology with meaningful action, we are opening our Donation Drive for Phase II: Community Outreach Program.

This phase brings SOM:PIA beyond the symposium and into the community, as we extend our advocacy to the less fortunate. We hope to share care, compassion, and support with its residents through a community outreach program centered on connection, wellness, and meaningful action.

Because psychology should not end when the symposium does. It should move beyond the classroom and into the communities we serve—cultivating empathy, compassion, and the willingness to care.

To help make this outreach possible, we are accepting in-kind and monetary donations, as every contribution, big or small, can help us provide what the residents need and make this initiative more meaningful.

Let’s sumpay psychology with action 🫶

From the symposium to the community, the work continues.

As we move into Phase II of STATE OF MIND: Psychology in Action, we’re grateful to have these sponsors helping make this phase possible as we bring care, compassion, and a helping hand into spaces that need it.

Our sincere thanks to Algorithm Computer Services and Cang’s Incorporated for their generosity and support for this initiative. Their contribution allows us to grow beyond a single event and into a shared effort for the community.

Thank you for helping us Sumpay it Forward!

STATE OF MIND: Psychology in Action, Phase I has officially wrapped. 🧠✨

Last October 3, we gathered at the Silliman University Audio Visual Theatre for an afternoon centered on growth, connection, and cognition.

We came in with questions about ourselves, the people around us, and the choices we make. Through the sessions, we were given the chance to look at these questions from different angles and reflect on how they show up in our own lives. We hope you left with something to carry with you, whether that means pausing before judging, becoming more aware of your own actions, or being more mindful of how you treat the people around you.

These ideas do not only belong in presentations or lectures. They can also be seen in how we communicate, make decisions, respond to mistakes, and build relationships. In many ways, they are already part of the things we do every day.

To our speakers, Dr. Margaret Helen U. Alvarez, PhD, RPsy, RPm, CCLP, Asst. Prof. Rea Mae Cadeliña, RGC, and Dr. Apollo Marr Bugay, PhD, RPsy, thank you for sharing your time and expertise with us.

We also extend our thanks to our hosts and moderator, the SUSG Advocacy Committee for co-organizing with us, and the SU Peer Advocacy Facilitators for their support. And to our volunteers and everyone who joined us that afternoon, thank you for being part of the first phase of this initiative. Your time and presence helped make the gathering meaningful.

We hope SOM:PIA becomes more than just a single event, but a reminder to bring these insights into the way we think, feel, and act.

May the heart and soul that chooses Psychology never lose its capacity to listen, to understand, and to care. May the pursuit of understanding the human mind never come at the cost of forgetting for human heart.

Who’s keeping the room alive this October? 🎙️✨

The room won’t just be filled with ideas; it’ll also need the right voices to keep the afternoon moving.

Meet our hosts, Jameika Santinna Bailado and Kish Anne Dolo! With their lively presence and compelling energy, they’ll be taking the lead throughout the program as we dive into psychological concepts and meaningful discussions, adding their own spark to the stage along the way.

And to help tie everything together, Maria Arjene Montes will be taking the moderator’s seat. She’ll guide the conversations that follow the presentations, bringing our speakers and participants together through questions, insights, and substantive discourse.

With the event in good hands, we’re ready to explore our STATE OF MIND and put Psychology in Action.

Join us on October 3, 2026, from 1:00–5:00 PM at the Silliman University Audio Visual Theatre (AVT).
