𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬. 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘. 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, Inc. (BCAFI), in partnership with the National Movement of Young Legislators of Negros Oriental, led by its President, City Councilor Hon. Melissa L. Sagarbarria, and the Rotaract Club of Dumaguete, successfully conducted the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗥𝘂𝗻 on October 18, 2026, at Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete City.

The Local Youth Development Office was grateful to be part of this meaningful initiative as a co-presenter, joining fellow partners and community members in raising awareness and showing support for breast cancer warriors and survivors.

Our sincere congratulations to Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, Inc. (BCAFI) and heartfelt appreciation to all partner organizations, sponsors, runners, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

Your collective support transformed this fun run into a meaningful movement that raises awareness, inspires hope, and stands in solidarity with breast cancer warriors and survivors.

The preparations are underway for the 3rd Dumaguete Youth Achievers Awards (DYAA) 2026!

A follow-up meeting was held on October 22, 2026, at the Local Youth Development Office Conference Room to discuss updates, review preparations, and ensure the successful implementation of this year’s awards.

The City Government of Dumaguete, through the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) and the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC), in partnership with Sidlak sa Buglas Youth – Kilos Ko Youth NegOr Chapter, Society of Student Communicators, Information Technology Society – NORSU Main Campus, NORSU Psychology Society, Junior Philippine Pharmacists Association – NORSU Chapter, Philippine Association of Geothermal Engineering Students, and Values Education Society, continues its commitment to recognizing outstanding young individuals and youth organizations whose dedication, volunteerism, and initiatives contribute to youth development, local governance, and community transformation.

𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗘𝗧𝗡𝗢𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛!

The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Dumaguete City successfully presented its proposed Calendar Year 2027 Budget during the Committee of the Whole of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on October 22, 2026.

With a proposed budget of ₱3,755,000.00, dedicated solely to the implementation of its Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs), the LYDO marks a 25.59% increase from its current year’s budget, reflecting a strengthened commitment to expanding youth development initiatives and creating more meaningful opportunities for young Dumaguetnons.

This proposed increase represents more than just a budget allocation; it is an investment in the potential, leadership, participation, and aspirations of the youth of Dumaguete City.

As we move forward, the City Government of Dumaguete, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Manuel T. Sagarbarria, through its LYDO, remains committed to developing responsive, inclusive, and impactful programs that empower young people to become active partners in building a progressive and youth-friendly city.

The City Government of Dumaguete, through the Local Youth Development Office and the Local Youth Development Council, conducted the 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 on October 10–11, 2026, in Dauin, Negros Oriental.

The two-day seminar aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of Republic Act No. 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women, and other gender-related laws and policies. It highlighted the importance of human rights, gender equality, and the prevention of discrimination and violence. The activity also included the Linggo ng Kabataan Evaluation to assess the implementation of youth activities.

Sincere appreciation to Ms. Wynneth Leanne D. Ligo of Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation (GWAVE), our resource speaker, for sharing her knowledge and insights, and to all participants for their active involvement and valuable contributions.

May the insights gained from this activity strengthen our collective commitment to advancing gender equality, upholding human rights, and fostering safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive communities.

The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) – Dumaguete City participated in “𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗞𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧: 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲,” held on October 8, 2026, at the Function Room, Legislative Building, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.

Organized by the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan of Negros Oriental and the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), in partnership with the National Youth Commission (NYC), the activity provided a platform to discuss administrative challenges, reinforce legal mandates, and strengthen compliance mechanisms in local youth development governance, including the submission of the Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP).

The Local Youth Development Office - Dumaguete City extends its sincere appreciation to Jhon Michael C. Alvarez, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President of Negros Oriental; Ms. Cybel C. Tantay, Mr. Mitch Vargas, and Mr. Crissan Charles D. Bantaya of the National Youth Commission; and Assistant Secretary Juanquine Carlo Racho, Assistant Secretary and Commissioner Representing the Visayas of the National Youth Commission, for their valuable insights, guidance, and support throughout the activity.

Indeed, this was a meaningful opportunity to learn, exchange experiences, and strengthen our commitment to responsive, accountable, and effective youth development governance.

The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) successfully presented and discussed its proposed programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) for the 2027 Annual Investment Program (AIP) of the City Government of Dumaguete.

The presentation highlighted the office’s planned youth development initiatives, priorities, and proposed activities for 2027, aligned with the needs and aspirations of Dumaguete’s young people. The proposed PPAs were presented and discussed as part of the deliberation of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, ensuring that the programs of the LYDO are properly considered in the city’s plans and investments for the coming year.

The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) conducted a finalization meeting with the members of the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) in preparation for the Dumaguete Youth Congress 2026, which will be held on October 31, 2026, at Bethel Guest House, Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete City.

The meeting focused on finalizing the program flow, session topics, activity details, logistics, and other preparations to ensure the successful and meaningful conduct of the Youth Congress. The event aims to provide Dumaguete’s young people with a platform to connect, learn, share their perspectives, and actively engage in discussions on issues and opportunities that matter to the youth.

With the theme “Youth Connect: Kabataang Mulat, Kabataang Kumikilos,” the Dumaguete Youth Congress 2026 seeks to inspire young people to become more informed, engaged, and proactive partners in building a better community.

The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Dumaguete City welcomed National Youth Commission (NYC) Commissioner Representing Visayas, Mr. Juanquine Racho, during his courtesy visit to the office today, October 8, 2026.

The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination and collaboration between the NYC and the City Government of Dumaguete through the LYDO, particularly in advancing youth development programs, initiatives, and meaningful opportunities for the young people of Dumaguete City.

The LYDO expresses its appreciation to Commissioner Racho for the visit and for his continued support and commitment to empowering the youth and strengthening local youth development efforts.
