When God says, โ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ.โ
Deadlines. Requirements. Meetings. Financial struggles. Expectations. Family responsibilities. Academic pressure. Silent battles. The constant feeling of needing to keep going even when your mind and body are already exhausted.
Have you been feeling tired lately?
Not just physically tiredโbut deeply exhausted.
Sometimes, life feels like an endless cycle of responsibilities and problems that never seem to stop. We try to keep up, keep smiling, keep surviving, even when our hearts are already overwhelmed.
But hereโs a gentle reminder: it is okay to be tired.
Fear, doubts, anxiety, and stress are normal human responses. Our body was designed to react to stress through the sympathetic nervous systemโthe โFight-or-Flightโ response that helps us survive threatening situations. After moments of stress, the parasympathetic nervous systemโthe โRest-and Digestโ that helps calm and regulate the body again. However, when stress becomes constant and we rarely pause, our body struggles to recover. And sometimes, what we truly need is not more pressure to keep going, but rest. (Neff, 2022)
Last ๐๐๐ฒ ๐โ๐, ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ held its retreat at ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ, ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ข๐ ๐จ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, with a session centered on mental health, relaxation, and resting with Jesus. Through the session led by ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ, we were reminded that rest is not lazinessโit is necessary for both the body and the soul. Through sharing sessions, journaling, reflections, and heartfelt conversations, we were given the opportunity to pause and breathe.
We reflected through activities such as the ๐๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ซ๐ and the ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐, helping us become more aware of the burdens we carry and the importance of slowing down.
We learned simple but meaningful ways to rest such as deep breathing, walking, journaling, praying, sitting in silence, resting for a few quiet minutes each day, and even allowing ourselves to do nothing for a moment.
Most importantly, we were reminded to come back to Jesus.
In ๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฐ ๐๐:๐๐, Jesus says:
Jesus does not simply invite us to pause from workโ ๐๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ข๐ฆ.
Rest is not only about sleep.
Sometimes, rest is knowing that God is with you in the middle of your chaos.
Rest is trusting that you do not have to fight every battle on your own.
Rest is finding peace in His presence.
