After the lecture on basic ECG interpretation, the trainees work through a case scenario that integrates team dynamics and addresses a 65/M who experienced sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, and unresponsiveness.

After attending to the scenario, feedback was given, highlighting crucial/critical action;

1. Charge the defibrillator a few seconds before the rhythm check to avoid delay in defibrillation.
2. Minimize the interruption during chest compression.
3. Interval of ventilation
4. Maintain closed-loop communication

The scenario is essential to put their theory into action and assess the need for calibration.

As the Batch 9 of our Volunteer Recruitment Program prepares for their Final Objective Structural Clinical Examination (OSCE), they strengthened their knowledge and hands-on skills in two critical topics of prehospital emergency care.

They were introduced to Basic ECG reading, which allowed them to identify life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias. Additionally, they learned about effective team dynamics during a prehospital cardiac arrest response. The Batch 9 also completed Basic Obstetric Skills, providing them with practical skills to manage and assist in emergency childbirth in the prehospital setting.

The introduction of these topics is intended to enhance their knowledge and preparedness, fostering greater confidence and enabling them to effectively work alongside other providers.

The Breather of Life takes the calling of the EMBLEM of the Star of Life.

The Level 4 Respiratory Therapist Student at San Pedro College is broadening their horizons beyond the hospital’s confines to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Emergency Medical Services System.

After the introduction of the EMS System, a lecture and workshop on Basic Management of Shock were conducted. These sessions were further enhanced with small group discussions and case simulations related to shock.

MGEMS is enthusiastic about the student's interest in learning.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Soraya David-Jaictin, RN, MN, RTRP, the Clinical Instructor and Level 4 Coordinator of Respiratory Therapy, and the entire department for the privilege.
