🌱 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐇-𝐒𝐂𝐈 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 🌱

Continuing our celebration of 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this September, 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐒 shines the spotlight on another member's reflection on caring for our common home. 🌍

In this blog feature, AMSS Member Rosalia Tanglao reminds us that saying "we love nature" is easy, but trusting that love is hard — especially when good intentions are so often outweighed by bad decisions. Drawing from a childhood favorite, The Lorax, she reflects on how we are taught to be defenders of the weak and vulnerable, yet as we grow older, we tend to forget, or worse, ignore those lessons. 🌴🌍

Her message is clear: we must take heed of our actions and make careful decisions, so we don't feed the very destruction we fear. She holds on to the hope that our simple deeds and small seeds today can make the difference between a barren future and one where the grass stays green, the water stays clean, and nature continues to thrive. 💚

In this blog feature, AMSS Member Ericielle Louella Tabell asks a question she admits she had never really asked herself before: do we love nature, or do we only love what nature gives us? She reflects on how easily love for nature can become a kind of transaction — appreciating it for its beauty and resources, without truly seeing it as anything beyond its usefulness. Drawing from the concepts of calculative and meditative thinking, she reminds us that a tree can be more than timber, and a river can be more than water. 🌳💧

For Ericielle, turning love for nature into action does not always have to begin with something grand — it can start with becoming more conscious of the small habits we do without thinking. As someone who hopes to become a teacher someday, she hopes environmental education becomes something that makes us stop and truly notice the world we are already living in, not just something memorized for a quiz and forgotten once the lesson is over. 💚

Continuing our celebration of 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this September, 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐒 shines the spotlight on another member's reflection on caring for our common home. 🌍

In this blog feature, AMSS Member Joey Albarillo reflects on time as the ultimate truth teller — reminding us that nature demands time to recover from human consumption, and that the only thing we can truly contribute is being grateful for what we have by conserving our resources and living simply. He draws inspiration from Mother Ignacia's legacy of simplicity, martyrdom, and prayerfulness, embodying the belief that we must live simply so others can live simply too. 🌾💙

He connects this to SDG 1: No Poverty, believing that eradicating poverty is one sustainable way to protect our nature. As students, he reminds us that we should not limit ourselves to merely promoting sustainable development, but should engage in collective actions rooted in mercy, love, and service — the very things that will help us achieve a safe and healthy environment. 💚

🌻𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖? 🌻

Sunflowers hide an amazing mathematical secret — their seeds follow the Fibonacci spiral, a precise mathematical pattern that helps them grow with incredible efficiency!

"Even sunflowers know how to follow a pattern that helps them grow. Ako, sumunod naman sa pattern natin, pero bakit ikaw pa rin ang hindi naging para sa akin?" 😢

Nature has its patterns figured out... if only love worked the same way. 🌻

In this blog feature, AMSS Treasurer Hermione Vevey Dooc reminds us that not every seed is planted by us, but every plant reminds us of our responsibility. She reflects that turning our love for nature into action doesn't always mean planting trees — it can start with simple choices, like properly disposing of waste, reducing plastic use, conserving water, and keeping our surroundings clean. 🌿💧

As she puts it, nature gives us clean air, water, food, and a place to live — and in return, we have a responsibility to protect it. We may not see the results of our actions immediately, but every effort to care for the environment is an investment in the future. Love for nature should not end with appreciation; let it become action, responsibility, and change. 💚

In this blog feature, AMSS Auditor April Joy Ursabia reminds us that environmental education is more than just learning about ecosystems or climate change — it is about building a deep understanding of how connected we truly are to the Earth. Love for nature begins with appreciation, but appreciation alone cannot protect our planet. It must be turned into meaningful, everyday action. 🌿

She points out that active restoration matters too: planting trees rebuilds habitats, absorbs carbon, and keeps ecosystems healthy. Even small acts like planting a tree or picking up trash are direct contributions to climate resilience — and when we shift from admiration to action, we keep nature vibrant and welcoming for future generations. 🌳💚

🌌 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖? ✨

Looking at the night sky is literally looking into the past. Light takes time to travel — if a star is 1,000 light-years away, you're seeing it as it was 1,000 years ago. You're not seeing the universe as it is now, you're seeing its history.

"Maybe that's why I still look at you the same way... because what I'm holding onto isn't who you are now, but the version of you I knew back then." — Keme

Some things stay with us the way starlight does. 💫

Continuing our celebration of 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this September, 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐒 shines the spotlight on another member's journey in caring for our common home. 🌍

In this blog feature, AMSS 1st Year Representative Kaiden Montero reminds us that we only have one planet to live on, yet we often forget to take care of it. He explores how environmental education plays a pivotal role in shaping how we think — and connects this directly to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, from Quality Education and Clean Water and Sanitation, to Responsible Consumption, Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land. 🌊🌳

His reflection shows how environmental education isn't just a concept, but a framework that shapes mindsets and protects future generations — one goal, one action, at a time. 💚

🌱 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐇-𝐒𝐂𝐈 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 🌱

Continuing our celebration of 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this September, 𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐒 shines the spotlight on another member's journey in caring for our common home. 🌍

In this blog feature, AMSS Vice Mayor Dareyl Dave Palma draws from Silent Spring to remind us that humans and nature are deeply intertwined — the harm we cause will return to us, just as the good we do will bless us in return. He traces his compassion for nature back to his childhood, tagging along with his parents to the mountainous areas of Marilog, and shares how that sentiment came alive during a mangrove planting activity in Lasang. 🌱🌊

For him, planting mangroves is more than a simple activity to pass the time — it is something that warms the heart, knowing it benefits future generations of countless species. As he puts it, let us learn to love with purpose, and learn to love with evidence. 💚
