Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often mistaken for simply being organized or wanting things to be perfect. We hear the term thrown around in everyday conversations, sometimes without realizing how it can affect the people who actually live with the condition.

OCD involves obsessions, which are unwanted and distressing thoughts, images, or urges, and compulsions, which are repetitive behaviors or mental acts a person feels driven to perform. These experiences can be exhausting and may interfere with a person's daily life.

This OCD Awareness Week, let us take a moment to understand before making assumptions. A condition should never become a joke simply because its struggles are unfamiliar to us.
