“𝑻𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆.” — 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗔. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗻

On March 23, 2026, at the Arcilla Hallway, we celebrated Women’s Month through a solidarity event titled “𝑹𝒆𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝙢 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕!” with the theme “𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔, 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔!” honoring the wisdom, strength, and sacred role of women in shaping communities, as well as their continued courage in leading and inspiring change today.

Our guest speaker, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗔. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗻, currently serves as the Disability Affairs Officer IV of the Provincial Government of Albay, where she leads the Albay Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Office (APPDAO). With over a decade of experience in community-based inclusive development, she has dedicated her career to empowering persons with disabilities and promoting inclusive programs that create real, lasting impact.

In line with this, the Sociology 2 – Sophomores took the initiative to give out hair ties as a symbol of solidarity and empowerment. This initiative aimed to honor women by celebrating their strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of leadership.

This celebration does not end this month—it continues every day, as we recognize and appreciate women who constantly show courage, strength, and an inspiring spirit.

𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 | 𝗚𝗔𝗛𝗨𝗠: 𝗦𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘁 𝗻𝗶 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗶, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻💪👑💅

The GAHUM seminar was held last March 21, 2026, at the BUCGAD Conference Hall. The event did not only empower women by providing knowledge about RA 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, but also created a space for self-reflection. One segment of the program allowed participants to reflect on their fears and who they want to become—a moment of deeper self-awareness.

The first speaker, 𝐏𝐂𝐏𝐋 𝐀𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐀. 𝐃𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐚, delivered a compelling discussion by sharing her experiences as a policewoman handling cases involving gender-based violence. During her talk, she presented various real-life situations and stories of women who had experienced abuse. She also gave practical tips and reminders to students, emphasizing the importance of being vigilant and cautious when disclosing personal information to the public.

On the other hand, the second speaker, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄. 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨, 𝐌𝐀 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐄𝐝, created a moment of truth and vulnerability. In her talk, she encouraged participants to be honest about their feelings, acknowledge their fears, and define the boundaries they wish to establish in their relationships and interactions with others.

Overall, the event truly demonstrated why Women’s Month should always be commemorated—𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔.🌸💜

In celebration of Women’s Month, AB Sociology took a stand by extending care beyond conversations and into action through a free pad distribution for students, faculty, and staff. Because menstrual health is not a privilege, it is a basic need. Pads should be free, accessible, and stigma-free, just like any other form of healthcare.

In a space where learning and growth are prioritized, no one should have to worry about something as fundamental as managing their period. This initiative is more than just distribution, it is a statement. A call to recognize that women’s healthcare deserves visibility, support, and urgency. 💜

A Wall for Every Voice ✨

Together with The Associates, AB Sociology 3 created a free wall where students shared affirmations, reflections, and messages of empowerment. From words on feminism to encouragements like Padayon, the 2nd floor of Lawaan became alive with voices—each note, each word, each drawing carrying a story, a hope, a reminder that every voice matters.

In a space where whispers became statements and thoughts became declarations, the wall stood as a testament: “When we share our stories, we give strength to those who have yet to find their own voice.” Students from all colleges joined in, leaving traces of inspiration that turned the ordinary hallway into a mosaic of courage, resilience, and affirmation. Every message reminded us that even the smallest words can ripple far beyond the page—and that together, women rise, speak, and shine. 💜✨
