We got wet and we did things! Two students undergoing their TDI SideMount and some technical fundamentals thrown in at the start of the 5 days just to get them into a rhythm.
Day one and two went well with a pause on day for to stay dry, physically recover due to combat injuries and take some time to knock out a good chunk of theory.
Back in the pool for some buttoning up and then let loose into the ocean in the afternoon for lots of skills and drills. Let the boys have a swim around in confined 6metre area for a while on their own as I ‘went back to get some training tools’ and after diligently following instructions on their route and timing they came across me.. dead! Face down, motionless. Their new learned skills kicked into geared and I was saved by two hero’s. Planned.. but to them it was unexpected.
Remember to always expect the unexpected! This is how teaches you! We do skills over and over and over and we will spring it on you when you are least expecting it even when we say ‘training is done, have some fun’.
Michael Armstrong and Chad Lightner you did incredibly well. It’s a very challenging course especially with what was thrown at you! Please keep
Powering through and moving forward! I’m super proud of your progress and whilst there is always room for improvement I do feel that you have what it takes to be wonderful sideMount divers.
Stay tuned for the finale with videos and photos.
For now.. thanks as always to our incredibly generous hosts Danny Gove and Island Divers Cozumel for giving us the opportunity to make this work and to give us your resources for free so that we can truly make a change. You are incredible and we are so lucky to have you on our side.
Stay tuned for updates in the coming days.
