𝗨𝗦𝗠 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗫𝗜𝗜, 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼’𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟱 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

True to its mantra , the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) emerged as the top-ranked university in Region XII and secured the fifth spot in Mindanao, while also placing among the Top 30 universities nationwide, according to the March 2026 rankings released by EduRank.

The university posted a significant jump from its previous standing, ranking 42nd nationwide in last year’s EduRank assessment.

EduRank evaluates universities based on three key areas: research output (45%), which tracks academic publications and citations using the OpenAlex database; non-academic prominence (45%), measured through website backlinks using Ahrefs data; and alumni influence (10%), based on Wikipedia page views across 43 language editions.

For the Philippines, the rankings were derived from an extensive analysis of 944,000 citations from 84,700 academic publications produced by 229 universities.

Additionally, the platform considered the prominence of 1,341 notable alumni in determining institutional impact.

Globally, EduRank’s 2026 edition processed over 120 million academic publications and 3.16 billion citations, ensuring a data-driven, survey-free evaluation system.

As one of the leading universities in the region, USM’s inclusion in the national Top 30 and Mindanao’s Top 5 reflects its ongoing commitment to research development, academic excellence, and community impact.

Bai Matabay Plang Association, Inc. (now USM Founder's Legacy Association, Inc.) Successfully Holds 2026 First Quarter Meeting

The First Quarter Meeting of the Bai Matabay Plang Association, Inc. – now renamed the USM Founder's Legacy Association, Inc. – was successfully conducted on February 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Bahay Ugnayan of Retirees, University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan, Cotabato.

The meeting was attended by Acting President Retired Dr. Anita B. Tacardon and the organization’s Board of Directors. Key agenda items discussed included:

- Student Selection Announcement: The association will select 6 qualified graduating students, with 2 representatives each from the Tripeople. Applications are open from February 23 to February 27, 2026.
- Event Participation: The association will take part in Bai Matabay Plang Day on April 13, 2026, to conduct lifetime membership recruitment and a donation drive.
