Barangay LGU Leads Advocacy Drive on Child Protection and Healthy Living

A proactive step toward safeguarding the youth and promoting community well-being was recently undertaken by the Barangay Local Government Unit through a comprehensive advocacy program focusing on Anti-Child Marriage, Anti-Drug Abuse, Anti-Smoking, and Healthy Lifestyle.

The activity was spearheaded by Hon. Lyn A. Madrio, Committee on Gender, in collaboration with SK Chairman Ronald, Jr. C. Elipian, and the dedicated Barangay Nurse, Ma’am Cha. The initiative aimed to educate students and community members on the pressing issues affecting young individuals today while encouraging positive life choices.

During the program, Hon. Madrio emphasized the importance of protecting children’s rights, particularly in preventing early and forced marriages. She highlighted that education and awareness are key factors in empowering the youth to make informed decisions about their future. The discussion also underscored the legal implications and long-term effects of child marriage on individuals and society.

Meanwhile, SK Chairman Elipian actively engaged the participants by discussing the dangers of drug abuse and smoking. He encouraged the youth to stay away from harmful substances and instead focus on productive and meaningful activities. He further stressed the role of young leaders in influencing their peers toward making healthy and responsible decisions.

Adding a medical perspective, Barangay Nurse Ma’am Cha provided valuable insights into the physical and mental health risks associated with drug use and smoking. She also promoted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition, regular exercise, and mental wellness practices.

The program was well-received by the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the knowledge and awareness gained from the activity. Through interactive discussions and informative sessions, the initiative successfully reinforced the importance of making wise choices and living a healthy, drug-free life.

This collaborative effort of the Barangay LGU reflects its strong commitment to youth development and community welfare. By addressing critical social issues and promoting holistic well-being, the barangay continues to empower its constituents—especially the youth—to become responsible and health-conscious individuals.

𝘽𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙙𝙤 𝙊𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙯𝙖 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 – A new chapter in student leadership begins as the 𝗟𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗔 officially presented the 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗦𝗦𝗟𝗚) 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗚. 𝗡𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻.

This school year marks a unique moment in the history of Bienvenido Orteza High School, as only one party filed and offered their intent to run for the highest student governing body. With no opposing parties, the LG COMEA formally introduced the sole official party — the 𝗕𝗢𝗛𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬 — to lead the student body for the incoming academic year.

The 𝗕𝗢𝗛𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬 stands as a unified coalition of student leaders committed to embodying 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲, 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. More than a political group, the party represents a collective vision of proactive leadership and genuine service.

In their statement, the BOHS PARTY emphasized that they are “not running for the titles on our ribbons, but for the tasks at our hands.” Their mission is clear: to transform the school into a space where every student’s potential is recognized, nurtured, and celebrated. Anchored on the principle of service beyond self, they aim to ensure that the SSLG remains a sanctuary of integrity and a powerhouse of student-led progress.

The presentation ceremony highlighted the party’s commitment to active and purposeful leadership. Each officer expressed readiness to serve with dedication, courage, and accountability for the welfare of the entire student body.

As the new school year approaches, the BOHS community looks forward to an administration that is willing to serve, committed to act, and determined to bring meaningful change. With the battle cry, “𝗟𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻,” the BOHS PARTY carries the hope of fostering stronger student engagement, sustainable programs, and a united school community.
