This Philippine endemic is almost always seen moving through the treetops in small, active flocks. It feeds on insects, nectar, and fruits, helping control insect populations while also assisting in pollination and seed dispersal.

Its bright white eye-ring looks like a pair of tiny spectacles—earning white-eyes the nickname "the birds with glasses." 👓🐦

Did you know? The Crested Myna is not originally native to the Philippines. This intelligent bird traces its origins to southern China and neighboring parts of East Asia, yet it has successfully adapted to various landscapes and can now be spotted in places such as Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.

Recognizable by its glossy black plumage, bright orange beak, and distinctive crest, the Crested Myna is more than just a beautiful sight in the wild, locals also call it The MARTINES. These birds play an important role in nature by feeding on insects that may damage crops, helping control pest populations naturally. They also consume fruits and disperse seeds, quietly contributing to the regeneration of forests and the growth of new plants.

A simple reminder that every bird along our fields, forests, and mountains carries its own story and purpose in the balance of nature.
