SYO TRAINING | BUILDING A SAFER, MORE PREPARED COMMUNITY

The Sambunotan Youth Organization (SYO) was honored to be invited to conduct Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) training for the personnel of the Station Force Multiplier, Police Station 12 – Marilog Police Precinct.

The training provided participants with essential knowledge and hands-on skills in first aid, emergency response, and basic life-saving interventions, skills that can make a meaningful difference when every second counts.

For SYO, training is more than teaching techniques. It is about empowering individuals to respond with confidence, compassion, and readiness when someone needs help.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Police Community Relations (PCR) of PS12 and to Acting Station Commander PMAJ Renante C. Aritalia for the trust and continued support for initiatives that strengthen emergency preparedness and community safety.

Different roles. One purpose: to serve and protect our community.

SYO-QRT RESPONSE | VEHICULAR ACCIDENT

At 4:09 PM Sitio Agila, Barangay Suawan, Marilog District, Davao City, a call for assistance came in, and the Sambunotan Youth Organization – Quick Response Team (SYO-QRT) immediately responded to a vehicular accident involving a tricycle locally known as Bao-Bao/Ombak.

While travelling uphill along a rough and uneven road, the tricycle reportedly lost control and rolled over, resulting in the driver sustaining multiple abrasions on different parts of the body.

Upon arrival, the SYO-QRT immediately assessed the patient and provided first aid and initial medical assistance to address the injuries.

The patient was advised regarding the need for further medical evaluation and hospital care but declined transport to a medical facility.

SYO-QRT continues to stand ready to respond whenever our communities need assistance especially in areas where terrain and distance can make emergency response more challenging.

WHEN YOUTH LEAD, WE MAKE SURE THEY’RE SAFE.

Leadership isn’t only about standing in front; it’s also about being prepared to step up when others need help.

On August 29–30, 2026, the Sambunotan Youth Organization – Emergency Medical Services (SYO-EMS) together with Barangay Tamugan Responders was deployed at Lower Tamugan National High School during the SSLG Leadership Training.

While young leaders gathered to learn, grow, and strengthen their leadership skills, our responders stood by ready, alert, and prepared to respond.

For SYO, service goes beyond emergencies. We believe that every gathering, every training, and every youth activity is an opportunity to build a safer, more prepared, and more resilient community.

Because when the youth step forward to lead, someone should be ready to stand beside them.

SYO EMERGENCY RESPONSE | VEHICULAR ACCIDENT

At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sambunotan Youth Organization (SYO) responded to a vehicular accident at Sitio Crossing Sambunotan, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District, Davao City, involving a motorcycle and a tricycle locally known as Bao-Bao/Ombak.

The motorcycle driver, an 18-year-old male, sustained a laceration on the nose bridge and an abrasion on the right foot. SYO responders immediately provided wound management to control bleeding and monitored his vital signs while coordinating further medical assistance.

The patient was subsequently turned over to the Central 911 EMS Team for hospital transportation and further medical evaluation.

The tricycle driver was unharmed. The PS12 Marilog Police Station was also notified and coordinated for the appropriate police response and incident documentation.

SYO remains committed to providing immediate assistance within our capabilities and working alongside our emergency response partners in keeping our communities safe.

In emergencies, every second matters.

National Heroes Day gives us an opportunity to remember the Filipinos whose courage, sacrifice, and dedication became part of our nation’s history.

At the same time, we recognize the people who continue to serve others today.

Volunteerism is one way the values of our heroes remain alive. It is seen in the young people who respond during emergencies, assist communities affected by disasters, take part in relief efforts, and lend their time whenever help is needed.

The Sambunotan Youth Organization stands with every volunteer who chooses service over recognition and action over hesitation. Through disaster response, emergency assistance, community service, and volunteer activities, we continue to do our part in serving our fellow Filipinos.

To every volunteer who has answered the call to help, your service matters. Your time matters. Your willingness to serve matters.

On this National Heroes Day, we remember the heroes who came before us and honor the volunteers who continue to serve today.

CALL FOR DONATIONS | Let Us Help a Fire-Affected Family Rebuild Their Lives

In the early hours of today, at around 12:00 midnight, a devastating fire struck Sitio Laberg, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District, Davao City, affecting one family and leaving them with the difficult task of starting over.

As a community, we have the opportunity to extend hope through our generosity. We are humbly appealing for donations to help meet their immediate needs.

Priority Needs:
-Food packs and basic necessities
-Hygiene kits and clothing
-School supplies for the children:
Grade 8 – 1 student
Grade 6 – 2 students
Grade 1 – 1 student

Every donation whether big or small can make a meaningful difference. A bag of rice, a set of notebooks, school bags, pencils, or any amount of support can help this family recover and allow their children to continue their education despite this tragedy.

Let us come together as one community and show that compassion is strongest during times of hardship.
