OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ZETA PSI OMICRON FRATERNITY

​In Loving Memory of Brother Vicente Arante Reya Jr. (August 26, 1959 – August 4, 2026)

​It is with deep sorrow that the brothers and sisters of Zeta Psi Omicron Fraternity Cebu Alumni Chapter announce the passing of our beloved fraternity brother, Vicente Arante Reya Jr.

​We extend our deepest condolences, prayers, and strength to Brother Vicente’s family, relatives, and friends during this time of loss. May his memory remain a blessing, and may his spirit rest in peace.

Just as the iconic Cebu landmarks in the background represent distinct pieces of a rich cultural landscape. The members standing together come from entirely different foundational chapters, each bringing their own unique experiences, perspectives and traditions. Tradition meets accountability. The Zeta Psi Omicron Fraternity proudly stands in full support of the Anti-Hazing Law. True brotherhood protects – it doesn't harm.

The concept of "tradition" within Greek letter organizations is often associated with long-standing rituals, history and a sense of shared identity passed down through generations.bHowever, true tradition is not stagnant; it must evolve alongside the moral standards of society. By aligning the legacy of the Zeta Psi Omicron Fraternity with the principles of the Anti-Hazing Law, the organization demonstrates that accountability is not a restriction on brotherhood, but rather its ultimate protector. True accountability means acknowledging that the safety, dignity and well-being of every member must always come before antiquated harmful practices. When a fraternity actively chooses compliance and safety over toxic secrecy it elevates its tradition from mere longevity to genuine honor.

​Furthermore, this stance redefines the core meaning of brotherhood itself. True brotherhood is rooted in mutual respect, mentorship and empowerment – values that are fundamentally incompatible with the degradation and physical or psychological trauma of hazing. A supportive environment inspires growth and leadership. whereas hazing fosters fear and resentment. By standing firmly behind anti-hazing legislation, the Zeta Psi Omicron sends a clear message to the campus community, a real bond does not need to be bought with suffering. Protecting one another from harm is the highest form of loyalty a brother can show, ensuring that the fraternity remains a safe haven where young leaders can thrive and succeed together.

As we celebrate today the 61st Founding Anniversary of our very own Zeta Psi Omicron Fraternity, we honor the bonds of brotherhood that unites us, the unity that strengthens us, and the solidarity that propels us forward. Sixty-one years of shared values, shared struggles, and shared triumphs have forged an unbreakable chain of brotherhood.

As we gather to celebrate this milestone, we are reminded by our motto that "Unity Creates An Organization". Today, we honor the brothers who laid the foundation, the brothers who carry the torch and the brotherhood that binds us together.

With the theme "Unity Creates An Organization: Brotherhood, Unity And Solidarity" we are reaffirming our commitment to the values that make us stronger. Let's cherish the memories, strengthen the bonds and forge new paths together!
