The Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. – Zea mays Chapter, in collaboration with PAgLAUM Cooperative and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Carmen, successfully conducted an Institutional Strengthening for Farmers’ Associations cm Tree Planting Activity as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Barangay Caurasan, Carmen on May 23, 2026.
The activity was attended and actively participated in by Dr. Fabio G. Enriquez, President of PAA-CV, and Mr. Jayson Q. Coquilla, PAA Public Relations Officer and Chairman of the Board of PAgLAUM Cooperative, together with the organization’s members, Mr. Ramero P. Pungtod, Municipal Agriculturist of Carmen, members of the Barangay Council of Caurasan, and the 45 farmer-members of Eden Rocks Taguini Farmers Association (ERTFA) headed by its president, Ms. Amerlita Cole.
As part of the environmental advocacy component of the activity, approximately 50 seedlings of endemic tree species were planted along the barangay road during the early morning tree planting activity. This was followed by a short program and technical discussions on Vegetable Gardening and Sustainable Land Management conducted by the resource speakers, Ms. Marya Zea A. Villaganas and Mr. Jayson Q. Coquilla, respectively.
In his message, Dr. Fabio G. Enriquez underscored the importance of initiatives that strengthen farmers’ organizations and promote food security through the adoption of proven agricultural technologies. He further emphasized the need to protect the environment from degradation while ensuring the sustainability of farmers’ livelihoods in the community.
Meanwhile, through the support of PAgLAUM Cooperative, Eden Rocks Taguini Farmers Association received 12 pieces of plastic seedling trays and 50 packs of assorted vegetable seeds in support of the association’s vegetable gardening project and its continuing efforts toward sustainable food production.
