'PREVENTIVE SUSPENSION'

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has confirmed the six-month preventive suspension order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman over multiple complaints filed against her.

The complaints include grave abuse of authority, gross misconduct, serious dishonesty, gross negligence, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, and violations of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

“I respect the processes of the law, but I must respectfully disagree with both the basis and the necessity of this action.,” Garcia said.

“My legal team is already taking the necessary steps to challenge this preventive suspension through the proper legal channels. I have full faith that truth and justice will prevail,” she added.

Complainant Moises Garcia Deiparine also confirmed to SunStar Cebu the authenticity of the Ombudsman’s decision. | via EHP

BREAKING NEWS: The Ombudsman has placed Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia under preventive suspension.

In a statement sent to CDN Digital, Garcia said she “respects the process but disagrees with the basis and the necessity of the action.”

“I respect the processes of the law, but I must respectfully disagree with both the basis and the necessity of this action,” said Garcia.
