China's first publicly recognised transgender woman, Jin Xing, has remarried her former spouse, Heinz Gerd Oidtmann, whom she was forced to divorce 18 years ago.
Jin, a prominent transgender personality with 14 million Weibo followers, underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1995, which was documented in the film "Miss Jin Xing."
In 2004, Jin met Heinz on a flight, who’s German. For Heinz, it was love at first sight. The couple would go on to marry in 2005.
However, they had to divorce in 2006 to resolve adoption issues. Despite the divorce, they co-parented three adopted children.
In 2018, they secretly remarried in Italy. Recently on Heinz's birthday, Jin announced their remarriage on Weibo at the time of 13:14, which sounds like ‘forever and ever’ in Chinese.
