🌍 Symposium on Disaster Prevention & Safety Practices🚨

In partnership with the Red Cross, the symposium brought together students, faculty, and experts to raise awareness and strengthen our commitment to disaster preparedness and safety. Through interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations, participants gained valuable knowledge on effective emergency response and risk reduction strategies—empowering communities to stay safe and resilient in times of crisis.

Congratulations to the winning departments—COA, CRIM, and CBA—for being recognized with the Most Beautiful Digital Poster Award! Your outstanding work of art has became the voice of the very victim of corruption.

its diverse departments have united to cast a powerful spotlight on one of the most pressing challenges facing the nation: corruption in the Philippines. These posters are more than just displays; they are a collective declaration, a visual tapestry woven with insights, warnings, and calls to action. Each contribution brings a unique perspective to understanding the pervasive nature of corruption and its detrimental impact on society, the economy, and the very fabric of democracy. The institution believes that true progress begins with an informed citizenry, and these exhibits serve as a crucial step in fostering that essential awareness.

Their aim extends beyond merely identifying the problem. Through these varied expressions, they explore practical strategies and ethical frameworks that empower every individual to actively avoid and resist corrupt practices. They delve into the mechanisms of accountability, the importance of transparency, and the fundamental civic duties that underpin a just society. From understanding the legal ramifications of bribery to recognizing subtle forms of undue influence, these posters equip viewers with the knowledge to navigate complex situations, protect public resources, and uphold the integrity of institutions. "i-otso otso mo be"

🫀 CPR saves lives — and today, the Red Cross showed us exactly how. In a powerful demo, we learned the proper way to perform CPR: check responsiveness, call for help, and deliver firm, rhythmic chest compressions. It’s not just about technique — it’s about courage, timing, and the will to act when every second counts.

💧 With creativity and heart, the team used water jugs (aka gallons!) as stand-ins for CPR manikins, proving that learning doesn’t need fancy tools — just commitment and care. Everyone got a chance to practice, feel the rhythm, and understand the pressure needed to make a difference.

🙏 Huge shoutout to Andaya Pascua and S. Bagain for stepping up on stage and showing us how it’s done! Your voluntary demo brought the lesson to life and inspired us all. Thank you for your bravery, energy, and for being the heartbeat of today’s training 💓

The Red Cross took center stage today, hosting an informative and engaging symposium focused on first aid best practices. Participants were immersed in a comprehensive program designed to equip them with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations. The Red Cross instructors shared their expertise, guiding attendees through practical exercises and real-life scenarios.

The symposium emphasized the importance of quick thinking, decisive action, and a strong understanding of basic first aid principles. Attendees learned how to assess situations, provide immediate care, and ensure the safety of both themselves and those in need. The event served as a powerful reminder of the Red Cross's unwavering dedication to community support and emergency preparedness.

The organizers express their sincere appreciation to the Red Cross for their invaluable partnership and commitment to empowering individuals with life-saving skills. "The NSTP participants recently held a successful event focused on bomb threat awareness and safety measures. The event featured guest speakers from the Philippine National Police (PNP), who shared their expertise on recognizing potential dangers and responding effectively to bomb threats. Attendees learned about the importance of staying calm and the proper procedures to follow to ensure community safety.

A major highlight of the event was a demonstration by the PNP's talented K9 unit. Participants were impressed by the K-9 unit bomb-detection skills, gaining a deeper understanding of their critical role in keeping the community safe.

The aim of the event was to empower students with the knowledge and skills to handle potentially dangerous situations. Understanding the appropriate actions to take in the event of a bomb threat can make a significant difference. Organizers and participants alike deemed the event a success, with special appreciation extended to the PNP guests for their valuable contributions. The hope is that everyone will remain vigilant and informed.

With the help of NSTP advisers together with the NSTP officials, 1st year students of OLPCC, and also the main guests of the event—Cauayan CECU PNP Bomb-squad with the project of “ABKD”

Youth-Driven Clean-Up Drive Promotes Environmental Responsibility and Civic Engagement

𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚 – In a commendable display of civic duty and environmental stewardship, students from the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Our Lady of the Pillar College–Cauayan (OLPCC) took to the streets on April 12 and April 26, 2025, to spearhead a two-part clean-up drive across various thoroughfares of Cauayan City. This is the first clean-up drive parade in the history of OLPCC-NSTP.

This impactful initiative, organized under the leadership of 𝑴𝒓. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑲𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒏 𝑭𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒛, 𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑷 𝑬𝒙𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕, was conducted in collaboration with 𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑷 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓, 𝑴𝒓. 𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒐 𝑺. Together, they successfully mobilized students to participate in meaningful community action, fostering both environmental awareness and civic consciousness.

👉 During the first phase of the project on April 12, the students focused their activities along the road from OLPCC to Barangay Cabaruan. Later on April 26, the second phase focused on the route starting from the college campus up to the Cauayan City Parish Church. Such places used by the community on a daily basis had piled up tremendous amounts of trash — something the NSTP students aimed to solve with much passion.

In each event’s beginning, students assembled in the early morning at their respective starting points, equipped with brooms, dustpans, gloves, and trash bags. After orientation and team assignment, they divided into smaller groups to tackle the assigned areas effectively. This systematic task assignment made it effective and allowed thorough coverage of each point.

🧤 As the clean-up commenced, students exhibited admirable diligence and enthusiasm. They worked tirelessly to remove various forms of litter — from plastic bottles and wrappers to paper waste and other debris. More importantly, the participants practiced proper waste segregation and disposal techniques, reflecting their understanding of responsible environmental management. This hands-on experience not only benefited the city’s cleanliness but also instilled essential habits in sustainability.

💬 According to Mr. Fernandez, the clean-up drive was more than just an outreach project, it was “a step toward nurturing youth who are conscious of their role in nation-building and environmental protection.” The NSTP program, he emphasized, aims to mold students into responsible and active members of society.

Moreover, the program served as a platform where the students could foster necessary principles like cooperation, self-discipline, and civic duty. Through their collective effort, the students enhanced their environment besides creating a model that other individuals in the community could follow.

Good Friday is not just a story of nails and wood. It is the echo of a love so fierce it bled for the very ones who denied it. On this day, the sky darkened, the earth trembled, and heaven held its breath as the Son of God surrendered to the silence of death. Not because He had to, but because we needed Him to.

In a world that often seeks comfort over courage and pride over sacrifice, the Cross stands as a contradiction. It is where mercy met justice, where sin was swallowed by grace. And as we gaze upon the broken body of Christ, we are not called to pity but to transformation. This is not just a moment to remember. It is a call to live differently. To love deeply. To carry our own crosses with quiet courage. For in His death, we were given life.
