𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙖 𝙄𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙙 𝙜𝙞𝙣-𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙠𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙠𝙖𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙮𝙤 𝙐𝙬𝙖𝙣

An inspection was facilitated by Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) together with Catbalogan City Engineering Office (CEO) yesterday, November 11, 2025 at Barangay Iguid where the Baliguid Tourism Services Association is located.

The group is a registered association under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as facilitated and assisted by Catbalogan City Public Employment Service Office (CPESO), which manages the century-old balete tree at the said barangay.

The inspection is part of the initiative of the city government towards identifying extent of damages brought by Super Typhoon Uwan for immediate intervention and for future development and improvement as supported by City Mayor Dexter Uy.

𝙂𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙤 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙤, 𝙠𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙤!

Batch 1 of the Gender-Inclusive Skills Enhancement Training (GISET) on Crochet Souvenir-Making has completed the training today, October 01, 2025 to officially end the Tourism Month celebration.

Participants of the training were members of different community-based tourism organizations (CBTOs), namely:

- Baliguid Tourism Services Association
- Cabugawan Eco Park Association - CEPA
- San Andres Tourism Services Association - SATSA.

Apart from raising awareness on gender concepts and sensitivity, one of the objectives of the training was to create crochet souvenir items to be sold by CBTOs featuring Manaragat Festival symbols as part od the cultural promotion advocacy and using single-use plastics as cushions or fillers as part of the environmental protection advocacy.

This training is made in partnership with the Catbalogan City Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) led by City Mayor Dexter Uy and the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture & the Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC).

Yesterday, December 22, 2024 was the Day 02 of the Souvenir-Making Training using Recycled and Recyclable Materials in partnership with Samar State University.

Attendees were members of Baliguid Tourism Services Association, Cabugawan Eco Park Association, Buri Baras Beach Cottage Owners Association, and other stakeholders and interested creatives.

The City Government of Catbalogan headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy through the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) and the Catbalogan City Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) is rolling-out this workshop in partnership with Samar State University through the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) and SAGWAN as part of the continuing efforts to assist tourism stakeholders and communities.

City Mayor Dexter Uy is very supportive of providing opportunities through the KULTURA KATBALOGAN program towards the 2040 Derecho Uswag Catbalogan Vision.

Presenting the officers of the reorganized Baliguid Tourism Services Association!

𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙤 𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙜-𝙤𝙣, 𝙠𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙤𝙥 𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙖 𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣!

Continuing with the project implementation of the "Comprehensive Tourism and Cultural Heritage Master Development Plan for Catbalogan City", an orientation among newly-organized and reorganized community-based tourism organizations (CBTO) was facilitated last December 14, 2024 at Bodega Skol, Diversion Road.

Officers of the following CBTOs attended the said activity wherein Ms. Maila de Guia from Catbalogan City Public Employment Service Office (CPESO) discussed on their duties and functions:
- Baliguid Tourism Services Association
- Cabugawan Eco Park Association
- Buri Baras Beach Cottage Owners Association.

Meanwhile, Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) facilitated the induction as requested by City Mayor Dexter Uy.

All these as part of the completion of the master development plan tagged as while the cultural heritage development agenda is tagged as wherein 'kahusay' reflecting the beauty of natural and man-made tourism sites, and 'kultura' reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the city respectively anchored on the branding as "The City of Captivating Contrasts" or simply .

The strong support of City Mayor Dexter Uy on tourism and cultural heritage is anchored on the 2040 Derecho Uswag Catbalogan Vision towards a sustainable and resilient global metropolis.

𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙤 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙜-𝙤𝙣, 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣!

As led by Catbalogan City Public Employment Service Office (CPESO), a reelection was held among members of the Baliguid Tourism Services Association yesterday, December 02, 2024.

This was a follow-up to the recent workshops and sessions conducted by Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) for the project entitled, "Comprehensive Tourism and Cultural Heritage Master Development Plan for Catbalogan City".

Baliguid is the community-based tourism organization managing the century-old Balete Tree located at Barangay Iguid, which said tree has its many mystical stories and occurrences.

In 2023, members were trained on ‘nito’ weaving for souvenir items like for leis, small containers, and baskets however, due to the difficulty in raw materials, it was temporarily halted. For 2024, they are set to attend a souvenir-making training using recycled and recyclable materials.
