The Carigara Heritage Society is a community‑based heritage advocacy group founded by committed Kalgaranons (residents) to protect and defend the proud legacy of Carigara — the first town established in Eastern Visayas (1571), the cradle of evangelization in Leyte (1595), and the first provincial capital of Leyte and Samar (1735). CHS advocates for the preservation of Carigara’s historic landmarks, cultural traditions, and culinary heritage, working to honor and sustain this rich heritage so that future generations of Kalgaranons can know, appreciate, and carry on our town’s unique identity.
