π©ΈTrigger Warning: Violence, Deathπ©Έ
As communities around the world celebrate Pride Month, we are once again confronted with a painful reminder that many transgender people continue to face violence simply for existing.
Bella Lutap, a 20-year-old trans woman from Nueva Ecija, was found dead after being missing for nearly three days. Her body was discovered in an irrigation area, naked, covered with a sack of rice and rocks, and in a condition that made her almost unrecognizable. She was last seen with her ex boyfriend. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
During a month meant to honor the resilience, dignity, and humanity of LGBTQIA+ people, Bella's brutal killing reminds us that Pride is not only a celebration. It is also a call for justice, safety, and accountability. π―οΈ
We remember Ali, Kierra, Shalani, Ren, Cheska, Teacher Dan, Ampaw, Elie, and many other transgender lives lost to violence whose names too often fade from public attention. Bella's death is not an isolated tradegy. It is part of continuing crisis demands accountability, protection and urgent action.
STRAP stands in solidarity with Bella, her family, loved ones, and the trans community as we call for a thorough investigation and justice for her death. We refuse to let Bella become just another statistic. Her life mattered. Her story matters. And her death demands answers. βπΌ
